KETI Supports VR/AR Technology Innovation

The Electronics and Telecommunications Technology Institute (KETI) announced that it will hold the 'Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), Technology Innovation Matchmaking' event in Sangam on the 11th.
Technology Innovation Matchmaking was designed to promote the commercialization of public technology by identifying companies in need and supporting technology transfer/commercialization.
This event was organized to support the development of the VR/AR industry and close corporate business, and is sponsored by the Technology Guarantee Fund, the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Industry Promotion Association, the Seoul Business Agency, the Korea VR Industry Association, and the Korea Intellectual Property Strategy Institute.
Part 1 will feature seminars on hologram printing, experiential sports entertainment VR, and VR/AR-based power facility visualization technologies. Part 2 will introduce promising KETI commercialization technologies, including the Korea Technology Finance Corporation's technology transfer-linked financial support program, non-contact NUI/NUX, a common virtual training platform, 3D convergence performance evaluation and VR/AR demonstration, and 3D virtual digital manufacturing technology.
KETI President Park Cheong-won stated, "VR and AR technologies, once perceived as somewhat distant, have recently begun to become more familiar to the general public through smartphone games. However, challenges remain, such as addressing the lack of content and the dizziness associated with them." He added, "We will dedicate ourselves to developing a common platform and providing technical support so that domestic companies can lead the VR/AR market and grow into global experts."

[Interview] Domestic LiDAR Technology Capable of Multi-Channel, 360-Degree Scanning
In autonomous driving, sensors play a role in recognizing surrounding situations. Among them, LIDAR is referred to as the 'eyes' of autonomous vehicles and is a sensor that can cover blind spots invisible to radar. However, it faces the challenge of needing to reduce costs in order to commercialize Level 3, where vehicles can operate partially autonomously. Han-Young Lee, Principal Researcher at the Smart Sensor Research Center of the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), explained, "LIDAR used in autonomous vehicles must respond to accidents that can suddenly occur in fast-moving cars, so the number of channels and scan speed are important factors."

Airborne Negative Ions Are Easily Detected at a Low Price Using IoT Sensors
The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (hereinafter KETI) announced that it has developed a nano semiconductor FET sensor and operational algorithm that detects negative ions in the air. Negative ions in the air have sterilization, deodorization, and fine dust removal effects, and are being adopted in home appliances such as air purifiers and humidifiers. However, equipment capable of measuring negative ion concentration has been expensive at 2 to 3 million won, making it difficult to determine replacement timing. This technology enables miniaturization and cost reduction, allowing anyone to easily verify negative ion generation and concentration when applied to home appliances and other devices. Developed as an IoT sensor, it also enables real-time monitoring of negative ion generation status through a website.
