Acronis Provides Ransomware Defense Solutions to Backup Server Customers
Published2017.05.16 14:48Acronis Korea recently made an urgent request to its headquarters to minimize customer damage caused by ransomware amidst the rapid global spread of ransomware, and decided to provide its personal and home backup and recovery solution, 'Acronis True Image 2017 NG,' which includes ransomware prevention features, to corporate customers free of charge.
When purchasing the multi-platform and universal license versions of 'Acronis Backup Advanced', Acronis True Image 2017 NG, usable by 5 users per server copy, is provided, and when purchasing standalone server versions of Acronis Backup Windows and Linux, Acronis True Image 2017 NG, usable by 3 users per copy, is provided in proportion to the purchase quantity.
Acronis Backup, an enterprise backup and recovery solution, is an integrated backup and recovery solution for various system environments. It enables rapid one-click recovery of individual files, application data, and the entire system with a single backup, and allows for easy and seamless upgrades, making it an optimized solution for small and medium-sized enterprises. Acronis Backup and Backup Advanced offer benefits such as enhanced performance and reduced storage costs, expanded storage support and rapid backups, and broader OS support. With available licensing options, it is possible to protect an entire SMB data center without upfront capital investment. Additionally, it provides enhanced Variable Block Deduplication (VBCD). According to the company, this feature allows for storing more than 24 times the amount of data in the same amount of RAM, resulting in reduced storage costs while enabling faster RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and saving on downtime expenses.
Acronis’s personal backup and recovery solution, ‘Acronis True Image 2017 NG,’ is the first product to feature ‘Acronis Active Protection,’ a technology that detects and defends against ransomware in real time, and provides the ability to automatically recover all data from backups, self-protection backups, and backup applications.

Acronis Korea plans to engage in continuous promotions and customer support to ensure that more customers can utilize this excellent product for the safe protection of information assets."

Domestic IT security market growth driven by intelligent and ransomware attack protection solutions
Last year, South Korea's IT security market saw growth driven by endpoint and messaging security solutions. According to the IT security product market report for South Korea released recently by Korea IDC (CEO Hong Yoo-sook), the domestic IT security product market last year was tallied at approximately 658.2 billion won, representing a 3.3% increase compared to the previous year. As the overall IT security product market has reached saturation, there was no significant growth in individual segments. Ransomware increased by 36% last year; attacks expected to rise in combination with worms.
데이터 파일을 암호화하고 몸값을 요구하는 ‘워너크라이 랜섬웨어(Ransom.Wannacry)’가 유럽을 중심으로 전세계적으로 광범위하게 확산되고 있다. 이에 보안에 각별한 주의가 필요하다고 밝힌 시만텍의 조사에 따르면, 워너크라이 랜섬웨어는 데이터 파일을 암호화하고 사용자에게 300 달러의 몸값을 비트코인으로 지불하도록 요구하는데, 3일 내에 몸값을 지불하지 않으면 지불금액은 두 배로 늘어나며, 7일 내에 지불하지 않게 되면 암호화된 파일은 삭제된다고 경고하고 있다.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
데이터브릭스가 3월 24일 개방형 에이전틱 SIEM ‘레이크워치’를 공개하며 보안 시장에 진입했다. 이 제품은 보안, IT, 비즈니스 데이터를 단일 환경에서 통합 분석해 AI 기반 위협 탐지와 조사를 지원하는 것이 핵심이다. 회사는 고비용 구조 때문에 일부 데이터를 포기해온 기존 보안관제의 한계를 줄이고, 개방형 형식과 생태계를 바탕으로 대규모 데이터 분석과 자동화를 가능하게 한다고 설명했다. 레이크워치는 현재 프라이빗 프리뷰로 제공되며, 어도비와 드롭박스 등이 초기 고객으로 언급됐다. 데이터브릭스는 앤트로픽과 협력을 확대하고 안티매터, SiftD.ai 인수도 함께 발표했다.
