With a new synchronous integrated power solution
Achieved high power density, high efficiency, low noise, and enhanced thermal performance

TI Korea ( www.ti.com/ww/kr ) December 13, 2011 – TI has launched a new 6V, 6A synchronous integrated power module with an integrated inductor. This product achieves the industry's highest power density of 750 watts per cubic inch and peak power efficiency of up to 97%. The new TPS84610 achieves outstanding thermal performance of 12°C/W, which is 40 percent better than competing modules. By combining the inductor and passive components into a single lead frame, this device simplifies communication power design using DSPs and FPGAs, requiring only three external components for an easy-to-design 150mm² solution. The TPS84610 supports an input voltage of 2.95V to 6V, provides a low output of 0.8V, and can adjust the switching frequency from 500kHz to 2MHz. As a 9mm x 11mm x 2.8mm low-noise module, it meets EN55022 Class B EME (electromagnetic emissions), making it suitable for noise-sensitive applications such as broadband communication equipment.

Providing various types of power module products
Along with the TPS84610, TI introduced four additional power module products featuring integrated inductors, including the pin-compatible 2A TPS84210 and 4A TPS84410. These products support input voltages from 2.95V to 6V. The 3A TPS84320 and 6A TPS84621 modules support input voltages from 4.5V to 14.5V and output voltages as low as 0.6V.

TI’s comprehensive portfolio of point-of-load (POL) voltage regulators and easy-to-use power modules includes SIMPLESWITCHER® wide-input range modules and DC/DC converters, as well as TPS84K integrated power solutions such as the TPS84610. For all of these products, evaluation modules, reference designs, and easy-to-use WEBENCH® or SwitcherPro™ design tools are supported.
