Western Digital Launches SAS SSDs with Superior Endurance

Western Digital has launched the HGST brand's highest-performance SAS SSD, the 'Ultrastar SS300'.
The Ultrastar SS300 is an enterprise SSD based on a 12Gb/s (12 gigabits per second) SAS interface, jointly developed with Intel. It provides high random performance with random read/write speeds of up to 400,000 and 200,000 IOPS (input/output operations per second), respectively.
The Ultrastar SS300 is optimized for data-intensive environments such as virtualized storage systems, databases, and private and hybrid clouds. With a capacity of up to 7.68TB, it helps reduce the number of drives in data center construction and consolidate servers to secure additional rack space.
Endurance is available in four levels, from 0.5DW/D (drive write per day) to 10DW/D, and various power options are provided, including a 14-watt power envelope for additional performance enhancement depending on power conditions, and an ultra-low power setting for more efficient energy consumption.
“The Ultrastar SS300 raises the bar for performance in 12Gb/s SAS SSDs,” said Ulrich Hansen, vice president of SSD product marketing at Western Digital. “It delivers best-in-class speed, exceptional capacity and a variety of power options, all backed by high-endurance 3D NAND flash memory, giving users the flexibility to build the optimal storage system and server solution based on their needs.”

Samsung Electronics' bestselling SSD (Solid State Drive) model '850 EVO 250GB' has become the first in the semiconductor industry to obtain 'Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)' certification. The 'Environmental Product Declaration,' overseen by the Ministry of Environment and operated by the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute, is a nationally recognized certification system that quantitatively displays and publicly discloses the environmental impact of products and services throughout their entire lifecycle—from raw material extraction through production, transportation and distribution, use, and disposal. Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
