Western Digital has launched the HGST brand's highest-performance SAS SSD, the 'Ultrastar SS300'.

The Ultrastar SS300 is an enterprise SSD based on a 12Gb/s (12 gigabits per second) SAS interface, jointly developed with Intel. It provides high random performance with random read/write speeds of up to 400,000 and 200,000 IOPS (input/output operations per second), respectively.

The Ultrastar SS300 is optimized for data-intensive environments such as virtualized storage systems, databases, and private and hybrid clouds. With a capacity of up to 7.68TB, it helps reduce the number of drives in data center construction and consolidate servers to secure additional rack space.

Endurance is available in four levels, from 0.5DW/D (drive write per day) to 10DW/D, and various power options are provided, including a 14-watt power envelope for additional performance enhancement depending on power conditions, and an ultra-low power setting for more efficient energy consumption.
