The book, to be published on the 31st, defines the fourth industrial revolution suited to Korea based on the accumulated research capabilities of the KT Economic and Management Research Institute, while examining the roles of individuals, enterprises, academia, and government, and presenting their direction. The goal is to contribute to accelerating Korea-style fourth industrial revolution by providing various cases and ideas that can help in establishing detailed tasks for the fourth industrial revolution.

The KT Economic and Management Research Institute stated, "The reason Korean society is paying attention to the fourth industrial revolution is likely because many people are yearning for change," and analyzed that "Korea's accumulated political, economic, and social conditions require change, and the reason the fourth industrial revolution is receiving attention is because the expectations and psychology of people who want to solve various problems scattered throughout society such as polarization, unemployment, and aging population, and hope for improved lives, are reflected in it."



As a solution to meet these expectations, the book presents "inclusive growth" that enhances productivity through ICT innovation technology, creates new industries, and simultaneously resolves social problems, and for this purpose proposes seven major policies including employment, aging and low birth rate, social safety net, environment, and education.

In the fourth industrial revolution, individual technologies share information and operate organically, and the next-generation network "5G" is responsible for that connection. 5G, which has characteristics of ultra-high speed, ultra-low latency, and ultra-connectivity, serves as a foundational technology comparable to the Internet, electricity, and automobiles, expanding the role of ICT. The emergence of ICT innovation technology based on 5G enables various things that were previously impossible, such as energy efficiency exemplified by KT-MEG cases and IoT-based real-time air quality measurement, and through these, social problems can be resolved as well.

Park Dae-soo, director of the KT Economic and Management Research Institute, stated, "I hope that 'The Future of Korea-Style Fourth Industrial Revolution' to be published this time will serve as a foundation for alleviating economic growth and resolving social inequality through ICT convergence activation in line with the coming era of the fourth industrial revolution," and emphasized, "If all our citizens pay more attention to ICT convergence trend changes such as 5G, the Republic of Korea will be able to advance from a global ICT powerhouse to 'Convergence Korea' and lead the world's fourth industrial revolution movement."
