Participating in CES Asia held in Shanghai starting June 7
Unveiling new SoC products and Bluetooth-based prototyping tools at the booth

Nordic Semiconductor announced that it will unveil its latest nRF52 series System-on-Chip ⁽ SoC) family, various Bluetooth® Low Energy and IEEE 802.15.4-based applications, as well as prototyping tools and reference designs at CES Asia.

Nordic will also demonstrate product demos at its booth (Hall N2, No. 2442) with its design partners at this exhibition. CES Asia will be held in Shanghai, China from June 7 to 9.

This new SoC is a low-cost device based on the low-power ^{ARM® Cortex®} M4 microprocessor, suitable for the most cost-sensitive mass production applications, and integrates the key feature set of the higher-end nRF52840 and nRF52832 SoCs while providing the enhanced range and throughput of Bluetooth 5.

In addition, a video presentation to be held at the booth will showcase enhanced features supporting Bluetooth 5-compatible range and throughput of the nRF52840 SoC and S140 SoftDevice (Nordic's latest RF protocol stack).

In the live demo, the nRF52840 PDK (Preview Development Kit) used to transmit high-resolution images to a Bluetooth 5-enabled Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone at Bluetooth 5's 2 Mbps data transfer speed (twice that of Bluetooth 4.x) is demonstrated. This SoC and SoftDevice are designed based on the proven architecture of the existing nRF52 series SoCs and support complex Bluetooth Low Energy and other ultra-low power wireless applications that were previously impossible with single-chip solutions.

In addition, support for home automation applications using Thread networks based on the IEEE 802.15.4 low-power wireless network standard will also be introduced using the nRF52840 SoC and PDK.

Meanwhile, Nordic is launching Nordic Thingy:52 ^™ , a prototyping kit based on the nRF52832 SoC that integrates nine different environment and motion sensors, microphones, and speakers. Nordic Thingy:52 enables app developers to configure, test, and demonstrate Bluetooth Low Energy IoT (Internet of Things) devices connected to mobile apps or cloud resources without using RF firmware coding skills or development tools.
