Industry's First 'Ideto' Security Certified TV SoC Launched

December 20, 2011, Seoul – STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM), a global semiconductor company in various electronic device applications and the No. 1 developer and provider of System-on-Chip (System-on-Chip) ICs, announced that its Freeman Premier TV System-on-Chip device family has received security application certification from Irdeto, a global software security and media technology company. Irdeto's certification means that TVs using Freeman products can watch premium content protected by the Irdeto Conditional Access System (CAS) without external devices or reception restriction modules. By supporting Irdeto CAS alongside mainstream DRM and CI+, the Freeman family boasts robust security performance.
Luigi Mantellassi, General Manager of ST’s WAVE TV business unit, stated, “As TV performance improves and TVs offer more ways to enjoy movies and games, content providers have become interested in their digital media security. ST has collaborated with Ideto for years on set-top box ICs. By applying robust security mechanisms, similar to those found in STBs, to the Freeman product family, TV manufacturers can meet the security needs of content providers, and customers can more easily enjoy a wide variety of entertainment on their TVs.”

Freeman Premier is part of the Freeman family of proven TV SoCs, offering scalable performance, software compatibility, and access to connectivity services. As a 120Hz TV single-chip, Freeman Premier delivers an enhanced 3D TV experience through MCTi (Motion-Corrected Temporal Interpolation) Faroudja technology.
The currently available FLI7510, FLI7512, FLI7515, FLI7525, etc., are Freeman ICs that have received IDETO certification, and content providers worldwide using IDETO CAS are planning to adopt Freeman ICs.

ST Launches 75V Drive IC Targeting 48V Industrial Motor Driving
ST마이크로일렉트로닉스가 48V급 산업용 구동 시스템 설계에 맞춘 75V 모터 드라이브 IC ‘STSPIN9P’ 시리즈를 공개했다. 새 제품군은 하프 브리지와 풀 브리지 구조로 구성돼 모터 종류와 출력 조건에 따라 설계를 확장할 수 있도록 한 것이 특징이다. 전원 회로와 보호 기능, 전류 감지 회로를 칩에 통합해 시스템 구성을 단순화했으며, 최대 500W급 애플리케이션까지 대응하도록 설계됐다. 회사는 레퍼런스 디자인과 데모 보드도 함께 제공해 산업 자동화, 로보틱스, 펌프, 팬, 조명, 섬유 기계 등에서 개발과 평가를 지원할 계획이다.
