Fairchild Semiconductor's digital microphone series that converts ECM output into a digital PDM data stream and includes temperature compensation
A device optimized for portable terminals
Provides enhanced noise cancellation and an easy interface to the handset processor

Fairchild Semiconductor is expanding its portfolio of high-performance analog mobile audio devices with the introduction of the FAN3850x series of digital microphone preamplifiers, including the FAN3850A product with 16dB or 19dB gain and the FAN3850T product supporting 15dB gain and additional temperature compensation.
These products feature built-in preamplifiers, low dropout regulators (LDOs), and analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) that convert condenser microphone (ECM) outputs into digital pulse density modulation (PDM) data streams, delivering superior sound quality through advanced noise cancellation capabilities as well as an easy interface to mobile handset processors. Features and Advantages
• The FAN3850A offers both 16dB and 19dB gain versions.
• FAN3850T provides 15dB gain and includes an integrated negative temperature coefficient to compensate for the ECM positive temperature coefficient to achieve a flat sensitivity response above temperature.
The pre-amplifier receives the analog signal from the ECM, applies an oversampling sigma-delta ADC, and outputs a pulse density modulation (PDM) data stream.
• Power can be supplied from 1.64V to 3.63V, and power consumption is low at about 0.8mW, and in power down mode, the power consumption can be 20μW or less.
• Excellent signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), low distortion, even at high sound pressure levels (SPL)
High power supply rejection
• Suitable for mobile phone and laptop microphone applications
