u-blox Appoints President Kwang-soo Son as New Country Manager for Korea

The Korean branch of u-blox (SIX: UBXN), a global leader in wireless communication and location tracking modules and chips, announced on the 5th that it has appointed Kwang-Soo Son, former head of Atmel, as the new head of the Korean branch.
Newly appointed Country Manager Son Kwang-soo worked at Samsung Electronics from 1989 to 1998, joined Atmel in 1998, served as Country Manager of Atmel (which was recently acquired by Microchip) from 2004 to 2016, and took office as Country Manager of u-blox on June 1.
Branch Manager Son Kwang-soo is a living witness representing the semiconductor industry, having served as a branch manager for the past 12 years while simultaneously working in the domestic semiconductor sector. He expressed his ambition to "serve as a foundation for u-blox to grow into a leading semiconductor company spearheading the Fourth Industrial Revolution, based on u-blox's management philosophy, advanced technology, and global business cases as the company celebrates its 20th anniversary this year."

u-blox announced the launch of the UBX M8230 CT GNSS receiver chip solution that offers an outstanding balance in both performance and ultra-low power consumption. The newly introduced Super-E (Super Efficient) mode reduces power consumption to 20mW, which is one-third of the previous level, while updating the position every second with minimal loss of accuracy. When tested in wearable and mobile electronic devices deployed in environments with small antennas or where continuous satellite signal reception is unavailable due to user movement, this solution consistently delivers excellent speed and positioning accuracy.
