The 27-inch LG UltraFineTM 5K monitor (model name: 27MD5K) was sequentially released starting in the United States in November last year.

The market for ultra-high-definition monitors with resolutions exceeding 4K grew by approximately 70% globally last year, surpassing 1 million units. LG Electronics plans to further expand its leadership in the fast-growing premium market by launching new products in Korea.

It uses a 5K (5,120x2,880) display, which is more than 7 times higher in resolution than Full HD (1,920x1,080). The number of pixels alone exceeds 14 million. This product is optimal for showing 5K content. It uses a Thunderbolt 3 terminal with a video transfer speed of up to 40 gigabits (Gbps) per second. Its transfer speed is about 4 times faster than the latest USB 3.1 terminal, allowing for the transfer of a 4K quality movie in just 30 seconds. It can also show large 5K videos without loss. Previously, if users wanted to watch 5K videos without using the Thunderbolt 3 terminal, they had to connect two cables between the monitor and the PC.



This product uses an IPS panel to accurately display colors. Even when viewed from the side, the screen remains sharp. Its color reproducibility meets 99% of the DCI-P3 standard, delivering true-to-life colors. The LG UltraFine 5K monitor also boasts a built-in camera, microphone, and speakers for added convenience. When users connect this product to their MacBook Pro, they can easily use the video calling service FaceTime.

In April, it was recognized for its image quality by being selected as the Best Photo Monitor by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), the world's most prestigious association of photography and video magazine publishers.

LG Electronics is also releasing the LG UltraFine 4K Monitor (model name: 22MD4K), featuring a 21.5-inch screen with a 4K (4,096x2,304) resolution. It boasts 99% color reproduction of the DCI-P3 standard. It can transmit a MacBook's 4K display via a USB Type-C port while simultaneously charging the laptop. This product is compatible with MacBooks released in 2015 (macOS 10.12.1).

Son Dae-gi, LG Electronics Korea HE Marketing FD manager, emphasized, “We will present a new standard for ultra-high-definition monitors with the ‘LG Ultrafine Monitor,’ which shows the best picture quality.”
