Increased capacity through application of HelioSeal technology

Western Digital has launched two HDDs, the 'WD Red 10TB' and 'WD Red Pro 10TB', optimized for NAS (network storage) systems in individuals, homes, and small and medium-sized offices.

The newly introduced WD Red 10TB and WD Red Pro 10TB feature Western Digital's patented technology 'HelioSeal', increasing the maximum capacity of the existing lineup by 25%.

HelioSeal is a technology that minimizes internal resistance using helium, which is one-seventh the density of air, ensuring a stable recording interface while using thinner disks. Western Digital's high-capacity helium-based HDDs, with over 15 million units shipped to date, are installed in various storage systems, including NAS, providing ample capacity and exceptional reliability.

The WD Red 10TB supports NAS systems ranging from single-bay to up to 8 bays, while the WD Red Pro 10TB supports tower and rack-based systems with up to 16 bays. Users can also freely configure the WD Red series to best suit their needs, with capacities ranging from 1TB to 10TB. Key features and specifications of WD Red and WD Red Pro 10TB are as follows.
