Korean map, English/Japanese services also available

KTH has launched new APIs, including a route search API dedicated to motorcycles and trucks and an API for Korean map English/Japanese services, on 'API Store (www.apistore.co.kr),' Korea's first API (Application Programming Interface) distribution platform.

KTH has partnered with GIS specialist Mappers to launch new bike route search APIs and truck route search APIs, and has strengthened the distribution of customized route search APIs for different modes of transportation by introducing an advanced version of the existing automobile route search API.

First, the vehicle route search API has enhanced various route search functions, such as simplified route search, fastest route, and toll-free route, as well as key features including toll, speed, and congestion information, and real-time traffic information.

With the newly added bike route search API, route finding service providers can apply information on automobile-only roads where motorcycle entry is restricted, enabling customized services for motorcycle riders who have experienced inconvenience in finding routes.

The truck route planning API provides various setting functions, such as height, gross weight, and narrow road avoidance, to ensure smooth traffic flow for trucks. These features are expected to significantly enhance transportation convenience by enabling optimal route search and navigation services for delivery services such as cargo and parcel delivery.

"In the future, the API store plans to focus on distributing APIs in the fields of maps, search, and big data, as well as domestic and international communication sectors such as SMS APIs and chatbot APIs," said Jeong Hoon, Head of the ICT Division at KTH. "Along with this, we will also continuously pursue the distribution of various APIs linked to core IT technologies such as VR and AR."
