ST and ZTE Partner to Promote LoRa Technology and Applications in China
Published2017.06.16 10:28STMicroelectronics and ZTE Corporation announced that they are collaborating with the China LoRa Application Alliance (CLAA) to promote the Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) industry and applications in China, ensuring CLAA compatibility on STM32 microcontrollers.
This collaboration builds on ZTE's expertise and close relationship with the company, which is contributing to the development and commercialization of the CLAA gateway International Working Group (IWG) and the CLAA network server Mobility Server Platform (MSP), as well as CLAA technical specifications and test certification tools.
At the same time, ST is ensuring compatibility with the CLAA technology specification for its STM32 microcontrollers (MCUs) and developing MCU products that support the CLAA protocol. ST is also analyzing the STM32 CLAA library and the current ST-certified LoRaWAN™ 1.0.2 stack in combination with CLAA's proprietary security protocols.
“The STM32 ecosystem has been widely spread in the Chinese IoT market and is already contributing significantly to IoT development in China’s smart cities, smart homes, and smart industries,” said Arnaud Bonnet, General Manager, Key Account Division, STMicroelectronics. “Combining ST’s ultra-low-power ARM®- based STM32 series with the low-power connectivity solutions defined by CLAA and supported by ZTE will be a valuable building block for expanding the deployment of IoT applications and services.”

ST Launches Ultra-Low Power MCU Supported by Development Ecosystem
ST마이크로일렉트로닉스(이하 ST)가 초저전력 마이크로컨트롤러인 STM32L45x의 양산을 시작했다고 발표했다. 이 제품은 사용이 쉽고 합리적인 가격대의 STM32Cube 플랫폼 기반 에코시스템 개발툴이 지원된다. STM32L451, STM32L452, STM32L462 제품 라인은 시그마델타 모듈레이터용 디지털 필터(DFSDM, Digital Filter for Sigma-Delta Modulators)를 탑재하여 저렴한 MCU로도 잡음 제거나 사운드 로컬라이제이션(sound localization)과 같은 첨단 오디오 기능을 구현할 수 있다. 온칩 플래시 메모리는 최대 512K바이트, SRAM은 160K바이트가 제공되기 때문에 코드 및 데이터 저장 공간이 충분히 확보된다. 또한 네트워크에 연결된(connected) 스마트 제품과 같이 보안이 중요한 애플리케이션 개발을 간소화할 수 있는 TRNG(True Random-Number Generator, 하드웨어 난수 발생기)도 갖추고 있다. STM32L462의 경우에는 암호화 하드웨어 가속기 AES-256도 탑재하여 안전한 제품 개발 지원을 강화했다. 그 외에 다수의 타이머, 모터 제어 채널, 온도 감지 센서, 정전용량 감지 인터페이스가 탑재됐으며, STM32L452의 경우에는 크리스탈리스 USB2.0 컨트롤러도 갖추고 있다.

ST provides cost-effective security features to IoT devices
G+D 모바일 시큐리티(G+D Mobile Security), 무라타(Murata), ST마이크로일렉트로닉스 3사는 사물인터넷 디바이스에 비용 효율적인 보안 기능 구현을 위해 협업했다. 이번 공동 솔루션은 다양한 애플리케이션 영역과 기업용 시장을 대상으로 판매가 시작됐으며, 데이터 교환의 무결성과 기밀성을 보장하면서 완벽하게 안전한 방식으로 저전력 광대역 네트워크 키(LPWAN keys )를 전송할 수 있도록 한다. 인터넷에 연결되는 디바이스는 꾸준히 증가하고 있고, 이들 중에는 다양한 종류의 필수 시스템에 사용되는 경우도 많다. 앞으로는 LoRaWAN™과 같이 휴대폰 기반이 아닌 통신 방식이 핵심 IoT 애플리케이션에서 중요한 역할을 담당하게 될 것이다. 중요한 시스템에 접속하는 비보안(non-secure) 디바이스는 이러한 주요 시스템에서 조작과 공격의 손쉬운 목표가 될 수 있으므로 애플리케이션뿐 아니라 전체 제반 시설에 심각한 위험이 될 수 있다. G+D 모바일 시큐리티, 무라타, ST 3사가 내놓은 신규 솔루션은 디바이스 제조 단계에서부터 보안 기능을 쉽게 통합할 수 있어, 효과적이고 편리한 방법으로 제품에 가치를 더하고 IoT 에코시스템을 보호할 수 있다.

ST Unveils Space-Saving Power Module for Motor Drives
ST마이크로일렉트로닉스가 새로운 공간 절감형 표면실장 지능형 전력 모듈(IPM: Intelligent Power Module) 5종을 SLLIMM™-nano 제품군에 추가했다. 이 새로운 모듈은 최대 20kHz에 이르는 주파수의 하드-스위칭 회로에서 특히 높은 전도 및 스위칭 효율을 제공한다. 통합 게이트-드라이버 회로는 스위칭 전압과 전류 슬로프(dV/dt, di/dt)를 관리하는 방식으로 EMI(Electromagnetic Emission)를 최소화하도록 설계되었다. 또한 열효율이 뛰어난 패키지로 제공되어 신뢰성을 향상시키고, 히트싱크 없이 설계가 가능하며, 2.7mm의 연면거리(Creepage) 및 2.0mm의 간격(Clearance) 덕분에 소형 듀얼-인라인 SMD 풋프린트 상에서 안전한 절연이 가능하다. 이 모듈의 핀 구성은 PCB 레이아웃을 간소화할 수 있도록 최적화되어 있다.

European Patent Applications Surpass 200,000 for the First Time… South Korea Maintains 5th Place, Led by Batteries and Telecommunications
According to the European Patent Office (EPO)'s 'Technology Dashboard 2025', European patent applications last year reached 201,974, surpassing 200,000 for the first time. Korean companies and inventors filed 14,355 applications, representing a 9.5% increase from the previous year and maintaining 5th place by country. Battery, digital communication, and semiconductor technologies led the growth, with Samsung ranking as the top EPO applicant for the second consecutive year and LG reaching 3rd place. The presence of major domestic cities such as Seoul, Suwon, and Yongin was also confirmed. It was also revealed that Korea's European patent strategy is expanding beyond individual technologies to span the entire industry.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.
