WD Backup Software Provided for Free

Western Digital has launched the 'My Passport SSD' in Korea, which features the fastest transfer speed among existing WD brand portable drives.

The My Passport SSD features fast transfer speeds of up to 515 MB/s, equivalent to internal SATA SSDs, along with a stylish design created through a partnership with Fuseproject. Its compact size enhances portability. Additionally, it is useful for content creators and users who want to quickly and easily manage vast amounts of files, such as videos and photos, while on the go.

In addition, transfer speeds have been maximized through support for the USB-C port and USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gb/s) standard. An adapter for use with existing USB-A ports is provided separately. Although primarily designed for Windows, it is also compatible with Mac systems. Along with security features such as 256-bit AES hardware encryption and password setting, it features shock resistance capable of withstanding an impact of 1500G, equivalent to a drop from a height of 2 meters.

Users can easily manage large image and video libraries and quickly back up important data and materials. It can be utilized in various ways, such as running virtual machines on a portable SSD or adding additional storage space of the same speed to an SSD-equipped laptop. In addition, the My Passport SSD provides free 'WD Backup' software that supports automatic backup to portable drives or Dropbox cloud storage.
