KT PowerTel Launches Pre-order for LTE Walkie-Talkie Lite Version
Published2017.07.03 16:15Lazer Lite combines the advantages of LTE walkie-talkies, which are free from frequency interference and distance limitations, with a simplified configuration to lower the device price.
Despite being an ultra-compact walkie-talkie with a size comparable to a credit card and a total weight of only 112g, it is equipped with a 2,000mAh battery and a high-output 2W speaker, ensuring no inconvenience in field use.
The service plan is also priced at an average of 40% cheaper than existing plans, lowering the price entry barrier. The existing Lazer series with various walkie-talkie functions is primarily used in large-scale business facilities. The newly launched Lazer Lite is targeted at small-scale businesses such as franchise restaurants and hobbyist activity groups.
Pre-orders can be made until the 31st through nearby dealerships or the official website. KT PowerTel plans to provide complimentary service until the end of October for pre-order customers who activate service within August.
Moon Ho-won, CEO of KT PowerTel, stated, "Lazer Lite is a device designed to bring LTE walkie-talkies closer to the general public," and added, "We hope that many customers will be able to experience the advantages of LTE walkie-talkies through this pre-order promotion."

Global ICT operators have focused on securing 5G technology centered on ultra-high frequencies (millimeter waves) such as 28GHz. However, ultra-high frequency bands have the advantage of enabling large-capacity data transmission utilizing wide bandwidth, but have the limitation of relatively short radio wave propagation distance. Accordingly, countries around the world including China and Japan have been working to secure low-frequency (frequency bands below 6GHz) 5G technology that can implement gigabit-level speeds while expanding coverage. SK Telecom has focused on securing 3.5GHz communication technology, the nation's 5G low-frequency band, and successfully demonstrated communication in this band with Samsung Electronics and Nokia.
