At the symposium, experts from various fields presented methods for collecting data without programming, application examples of intelligent monitoring solutions for smart factories, solutions for reducing manufacturing costs through big analog data management, and case studies on robot controller design for production line automation.
In addition, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) technology was introduced to ensure real-time capabilities of industrial communication (OPC UA, CAN) and industrial protocols.

NI Demonstrates Pre-5G Waveform Measurement Technology
National Instruments (hereinafter NI) announced that it demonstrated Pre-5G waveform generation and measurement technology at the 2017 International Microwave Symposium (IMS) held in Honolulu, Hawaii. The main content of this demonstration was signal generation and analysis related to waveforms of the NR (New Radio) physical layer proposed by Verizon 5G Technology Forum (5GTF) and 3GPP. In this technology demonstration, Pre-5G software for waveform modulation and demodulation was combined with the 1 GHz bandwidth of the PXIe-5840 second-generation Vector Signal Transceiver (VST). The key aspects of waveform modulation include the capability to support both DFT-S-OFDM (Discrete Fourier Transform Spread Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) and OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) with flexible subcarrier spacing, and component carrier configuration functionality that supports 3GPP 5G NR and Verizon 5GTF specifications up to a maximum total bandwidth of 1 GHz.

NI Announces Demanding Baseband VST Module
National Instruments (NI) has announced the baseband model of the second-generation Vector Signal Transceiver (VST). The PXIe-5820 module is the industry's first baseband VST offering 1 GHz complex I/Q bandwidth, developed to support the most demanding RF front-end modules and transceiver test applications such as ET (Envelope Tracking), Digital Pre-Distortion, and 5G testing. Charles Schroeder, Vice President of RF and Wireless at NI, stated, "In 2016, NI made a significant impact in the industry by introducing the RF model of the second-generation VST with 1 GHz instantaneous bandwidth," and added, "With the announcement of the baseband model of the second-generation VST, NI is continuing this momentum. Engineers can use the baseband VST together with LabVIEW system design software to meet the evolving and changing requirements of transceiver test applications. By leveraging the advantages of NI's software-designed VST architecture, engineers can accelerate design speed, reduce test costs, and solve measurement challenges that could not be addressed with conventional test methods."
