KT Consortium to Prevent Infectious Diseases with Big Data

The KT consortium announced that it has been selected as the final operator for the '2017 Big Data Flagship Project' overseen by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the National Information Society Agency.
KT, together with the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and BC Card, proposed the 'Establishment of a System to Prevent the Spread of Human and Animal Infectious Diseases Using Big Data' to prevent the expansion of damage caused by human and animal infectious diseases. The consortium was selected as the operator in recognition of the excellence of big data utilization technology.
For animal infectious diseases, KT will conduct a pilot project in cooperation with the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency to electronically record and digitize visit histories of people visiting farms using IoT (Internet of Things) and other technologies.
For human infectious diseases, KT plans to cooperate with BC Card and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to build a system that can identify the movement patterns and contacts of confirmed infectious disease cases by utilizing telecommunications and card data when confirmed cases occur, thereby helping to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Yun Hye-jeong, head of KT's Big Data Business Division, stated, "KT has begun cooperation with various government agencies and private operators to prevent the spread of various infectious diseases occurring domestically and internationally," and added, "We will do our best in preparing the pilot project so that relevant agencies can respond to infectious disease spread quickly and accurately."

KT and Korea Housing Management Association Lead the Way in Energy Savings for Multi-Family Residences
KT announced on the 6th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Housing Management Association at KT headquarters in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, for cooperation in energy consumption reduction projects targeting domestic multi-family residential buildings. Through this business agreement, KT will expand 'KT Giga Energy Manager' (formerly EnergyEyes), an energy reduction service for multi-family residences. Additionally, through joint cooperation between the two organizations, it is anticipated that contributions will be made to reducing CO2 emissions and greenhouse gas reductions in multi-family residential buildings, which are difficult for the government and enterprises to address on their own. Since October 2016, KT has been providing the 'KT Giga Energy Manager Free (FREE)' service at no cost, which enables efficient energy management for buildings and factories. The 'Giga Energy Manager' allows proactive management of energy costs according to seasons and time periods through big data analysis of energy consumption. The 'Giga Energy Manager Lite/Premium' service, which enables real-time monitoring-based power management and remote control, is scheduled to launch in the third quarter.

KT Opens AI Tech Center to Lead Artificial Intelligence Research
KT held an opening ceremony for the 'AI Tech Center' on the 6th at KT Convergence Technology Institute. The 'AI Tech Center' is an open artificial intelligence development platform built by KT on the basis of state-of-the-art AI development infrastructure at the domestic industry level, including supercomputers, to lead the artificial intelligence market. Going forward, it will serve as KT's artificial intelligence hub that will spearhead the intelligence of media, networks, and platforms for KT and its partner companies. The research spaces of the AI Tech Center consist of ▲'AI Craft Shop' for artificial intelligence technology research and collaboration using KT's AI infrastructure, ▲'Experience Space' where domestic and international terminals and services can be benchmarked, ▲'Academy Lounge' for AI education, and ▲'Voice Performance Evaluation Room' where voice recording and testing can be conducted. These spaces will enhance AI research and development capabilities for KT and its partner companies and support AI service development.

Ecolab and K-water Discuss Innovation Collaboration in Advanced Industry Water Management
Ecolab and the Korea Water Resources Corporation jointly discussed cooperation directions for maximizing water use efficiency in advanced industries such as semiconductors and data centers and establishing sustainable water circulation. H.Energy Obtains Green Technology Certification…SolarOnCare Operating at 99.82% Uptime
H.Energy has obtained green technology certification from the Small and Medium Business Administration for solar power generation forecasting and I-V curve anomaly diagnosis technology. The AI-based asset management platform SolarOnCare is deployed across more than 3,000 power plants nationwide, achieving a system uptime of 99.82% and a 3.7% improvement in power generation performance. Through real-time data analysis, it protects power generation revenue by detecting and managing minor losses such as module degradation and partial shading early on.
