Moxa Launches Device Server Combining Wireless Standards and Digital I/O
Published2017.07.11 11:19Moxa has released the NPort IAW5000A-6I/O series, a new 3-in-1 serial device server that combines IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n wireless standard technology with six digital I/Os to provide high flexibility when integrating serial equipment over wireless Ethernet networks in the field.
The DI/DO included in the NPort IAW5000A-6I/O series is controlled via TCP/IP using the Modbus TCP protocol and can be configured and protected via a web browser. Additionally, it can be installed via a COM port on Windows/Linux PCs compatible with legacy applications (using Moxa's patented Real COM technology). All models are ruggedly constructed, DIN rail mountable, and designed with power redundancy to ensure uninterrupted operation for industrial applications.
Unauthorized access is one of the most troublesome issues for system administrators. In addition to IP filtering and password protection, the NPort IAW5000A-6I/O series supports SSH and HTTPS to provide secure protection against hackers. Furthermore, devices installed in industrial automation environments face a high risk of surges due to electromagnetic pulses generated by the switching on/off operations of various motors. The NPort IAW5000A-6I/O series provides 4kV surge protection on serial lines, shielding electrical devices from voltage spikes and suppressing electrical noise.
Most device servers support a fixed number of serial board speeds. However, some applications require specific baud rates, such as 250kbps or 500kbps. With the NPort IAW5000A-6I/O series, you can select any baud rate between 50 and 921.6kbps. This ensures reliable connectivity for a wider variety of devices.
As a trusted serial device partner, Moxa plans to supply industry-leading serial products and services through 2025, providing long-term support. In addition, Moxa ensures continuous driver/OS support by supporting new operating systems such as Windows 10 and Linux 4, enabling customers to maximize interoperability and flexibility.
Casper Yang, Senior Manager of Serial Connectivity at Moxa, said, “This product offers significantly lower costs for managing failed nodes and preparing spare parts compared to using two or three separate devices, allowing customers to benefit from lower operating costs. Additionally, device configuration is simplified as a single device can meet all user requirements. Furthermore, the space-saving 3-in-1 design is ideal for maintenance applications where space is generally limited, especially when various machines are already installed.”

Moxa Named a Global Top 50 Industrial IoT Company
International consulting firm IoTOne's online survey results have selected Moxa as one of the world's top 50 industrial IoT companies. Through these results, Moxa has demonstrated leading capabilities in the transition to industrial IoT, and has been recognized for its efforts in driving change in the continuous development of IP-based networking technologies and applications. IoTOne (www.iotone.com) is an international consulting firm with expertise in IoT-related intelligence and marketing services, conducting a quarterly online survey titled "Top 100 Industrial IoT Companies."[1] This survey evaluates over 1,600 industrial IoT companies and selects the 100 most influential companies across three categories: "Brand Influence in the Market," "Technology Innovation," and "Ecosystem Environment." In results announced in March, Moxa was particularly recognized in the "Brand Influence" and "Ecosystem Environment" categories and was selected as a top 50 company. The top five companies selected were IBM, SAP, Cisco, Intel, and GE.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
