Release of 3.5A (IOUT), 2.25MHz Step-down DC/DC Converter with 36V Input Voltage and 60V Overvoltage Protection

January 16, 2012 – Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak) announced the release of the H-rated version of the LT3692A, a monolithic, dual-output step-down switching regulator capable of providing up to 3.5A of continuous output current from each channel. With an input voltage range of 3V to 6V and transient voltage protection up to 60V, this product is ideal for load dumps and cold-cranking in automotive applications. Features such as individual inputs, shutdown, feedback, soft start, current limiting, and comparator pins for each channel combine to further simplify complex power supply tracking and sequencing requirements. The LT3692A's switching frequency is user-programmable from 250kHz to 2.25MHz, allowing designers to optimize efficiency while avoiding demanding, noise-sensitive frequency bands.
The H-grade version is capable of operating at temperatures up to 150°C, compared to the E and I grade versions which have a maximum contact temperature of 125°C. All electrical specifications are identical to those of the E, I, and H grades. H-grade components are tested and guaranteed to operate at temperatures up to 150°C. They are also ideal for automotive and industrial applications susceptible to exposure to high ambient temperatures.
The LT3692AHUH is available in a 32-pin 5mm x 5mm QFN package and is priced starting at $4.95 per unit for 1,000 units. The LT3692AHFE is packaged in thermally enhanced TSSOP-38, is FMEA compliant, and is priced at $5.37 per unit for 1,000 units. Both versions are available for immediate purchase.
