Samsung Electronics Expands Gaming-Specialized Notebook Lineup
Published2017.07.17 16:57Samsung Electronics is launching a high-performance model of its gaming-specialized notebook 'Odyssey,' which features enhanced graphics processing speed and increased battery capacity.
The Samsung Notebook Odyssey high-performance model is equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, delivering graphics processing speed 30% faster than the existing model. The battery capacity has also been upgraded to a 66Wh high-capacity battery, representing approximately 53% increase compared to the existing model's 43Wh.
Additionally, the notebook is equipped with the latest 7th generation Intel Core i processor, PCIe SSD 256GB, and DDR4 8GB (or 16GB) memory running at 2,400MHz, enabling optimal gaming experience for any game.
The Samsung Notebook Odyssey high-performance model features a 39.6cm full HD (1920x1080) wide-viewing angle, low-reflection display that enables accurate and precise game control from any angle while minimizing eye strain. Through video HDR functionality, colors and contrast ratios are optimized in real-time for each video scene, delivering vivid gaming and movie viewing experience.
Samsung Electronics plans to introduce an additional top-spec high-capacity gaming desktop in July, further expanding its gaming-specialized product lineup. The gaming desktop is a high-end product that achieves compact size and design along with maximum performance through advanced engineering.

Samsung Electronics Selects 21 Future Technology Support Projects
Samsung Electronics has announced the selection of a total of 21 designated theme support projects for 2017 supported by the 2017 Future Technology Development Center. Samsung Electronics' "Designated Theme Project Recruitment," which began in 2014 as part of the Future Technology Development Initiative, is being implemented to designate nationally necessary future technology fields and support research in those fields. This year, two fields were selected: ▲ Next-generation semiconductor materials and devices ▲ Intelligence for Smart Machine. In the next-generation semiconductor materials and devices field, 12 projects were selected, including a project to implement "low-temperature process hafnia ferroelectric tunnel junction for nonvolatile logic" to overcome the limitations of semiconductor integration (Professor Jeon Sang-hun, Sejong Campus, Korea University), and in the Intelligence field, 9 projects were selected, including a project for "memory-centric accelerator architecture to enhance deep learning training and inference" (Professor Yoo Min-soo, POSTECH).

Samsung Electronics unveiled new premium refrigerators featuring the 2017 Family Hub functionality—the four-door premium model T9000 and the dual-door F9000 equipped with a food showcase. The 2017 Family Hub features cloud-based voice recognition technology that enables application control and previously won the CES 2017 Innovation Award. The voice recognition functionality was enhanced from April of this year, allowing users to perform internet searches, shopping, and schedule management. Through the POOQ service, users can watch live broadcasts, watch movies, and listen to terrestrial radio.
