Analog Devices today introduced a series of wideband passive RF mixers, HMC819x, supporting the entire 2.5~42GHz spectrum band. The product is ideal for industrial applications such as test and measurement equipment and defense circuit design that require wideband characteristics. While generally more than 10 individual components are required when supporting the 2.5~42GHz spectrum, ADI's three new products enable support for the same frequency range without performance degradation.

The HMC819x mixer is a wideband solution provided in an SMT package that shortens overall design time, minimizes design risk, and reduces time-to-market.

The HMC819x series supports RF and LO bandwidth of 2.5~42 GHz in addition to the IF (intermediate frequency) bandwidth, enabling simplified design implementation while maintaining superior RF performance in military or test and measurement applications. It provides excellent isolation performance with LO-RF and LO-IF both exceeding 35dB and RF-IF exceeding 20dB.

These mixer families are designed in an I/Q configuration, enabling image and sideband rejection characteristics of 25dB or greater without requiring expensive external filters, thereby reducing overall circuit design costs. In addition, input IIP3 characteristics can be realized across the wide bandwidth of 2.5~42GHz while maintaining low conversion loss and high operating range. LO driver amplifiers optimized for each frequency band are available, allowing each mixer's LO port to be used with low input power.
