Limelight Networks Establishes Network Points of Presence in India
Published2017.07.25 09:50Limelight Networks announced the establishment of three new network Points of Presence (PoPs) in India to meet users' transmission requirements.
The new network Points of Presence (PoPs) located in Mumbai, Chennai, and Delhi, India can more smoothly meet the rapidly increasing online traffic and bandwidth requirements.
Dan Carney, Senior Vice President of Operations at Limelight Networks, stated, "Movies, music, and sports are fundamental digital content enjoyed by India's 1.3 billion population. Along with infrastructure improvements, a prerequisite for maintaining competitiveness is providing the highest quality online services. Limelight will provide all the necessary capabilities to the market to address these requirements."
"Limelight has expanded capacity by more than six times over the past 12 months. We are confident that as private sector investment by the government increases, the adoption curve will rise significantly and growth will accelerate. We hope Limelight can contribute to reducing disconnections, download errors, buffering, and pixilation," he added.
Limelight expanded capacity by 650% in India last year and delivered traffic increased by 300% year-over-year in May 2017. Through these newly established network Points of Presence (PoPs), more enterprises can now meet customer expectations while providing faster online experiences.
Meanwhile, Limelight's Orchestrate Platform continues to expand capacity to support rapidly increasing demands for online traffic and bandwidth. This platform delivers superior quality services through all network connectivity and breakthrough performance even in emerging markets. Limelight Networks Releases Global Digital Content Usage Report
라임라이트 네트웍스는 ‘디지털 콘텐츠 다운로드 현황 2017’ 보고서를 발표했다. 이 보고서는 프랑스, 독일, 인도, 일본, 한국(507명), 영국, 미국을 포함한 전세계의 다양한 연령, 성별, 교육 수준을 가진 3,500 명의 소비자를 대상으로 조사한 결과를 토대로 작성됐다. 보고서에 의하면 스마트폰을 통해 디지털 콘텐츠에 액세스하고, 비디오 게임, 영화, 도서를 온라인으로 구매하는 전세계 소비자의 비율이 점차 증가하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 이 보고서는 스트리밍 및 다운로드 콘텐츠에 대한 소비자들의 변화하는 인식 및 요구사항을 자세히 기술하고 있다. 보고서에 의하면 14 %의 응답자만이 영화, TV 프로그램을 보기 위해 DVD를 대여, 구매하고 있으며, 25 %가 도서, 또는 기존 인쇄 매체의 하드카피를 여전히 선호하는 것으로 나타났다.

European Patent Applications Surpass 200,000 for the First Time… South Korea Maintains 5th Place, Led by Batteries and Telecommunications
According to the European Patent Office (EPO)'s 'Technology Dashboard 2025', European patent applications last year reached 201,974, surpassing 200,000 for the first time. Korean companies and inventors filed 14,355 applications, representing a 9.5% increase from the previous year and maintaining 5th place by country. Battery, digital communication, and semiconductor technologies led the growth, with Samsung ranking as the top EPO applicant for the second consecutive year and LG reaching 3rd place. The presence of major domestic cities such as Seoul, Suwon, and Yongin was also confirmed. It was also revealed that Korea's European patent strategy is expanding beyond individual technologies to span the entire industry.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK Telecom announced that it applied an AI-based network operation system for the first time at a large-scale K-pop concert held in the Gwanghwamun area of Seoul on March 21st, managing communication quality throughout the event. Mobile data usage during the three hours before and after the concert reached 12.15TB, approximately doubling compared to the same time slot the previous weekend. SK Telecom monitored traffic using the AI system 'A-One' in five-minute and 50-meter units to respond to potential overload situations, while also operating temporary communication facilities and on-site personnel in parallel. This case is interpreted as confirmation of the practical applicability of AI-based autonomous network operation in an environment where demand from dense events and foreign users increases simultaneously.
