Optimized for RF products using frequencies below 1 GHz

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the authorized global distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking the S2-LP ultra-low-power sub-1GHz transceiver from STMicroelectronics (ST).

The S2-LP wireless chip, a successor to the highly acclaimed SPIRIT1, offers extended transmission range, wider range of options, ultra-low power consumption, and flexible configurations for use in Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The ST S2-LP transceiver, available from Mouser Electronics, is an ultra-low-power wireless product optimized for sub-1GHz radio frequency (RF) applications. It operates in license-free ISM and SRD (short-range radio) frequency bands and offers programmable frequency options. Ideal for networked applications, it supports the Sigfox global network, Wireless M-Bus, 6LowPAN, and IEEE 802.15.4g standards.

The S2-LP transceiver consumes only 6.7 mA when receiving and 10 mA when transmitting (at an output power of 10 dBm). Equipped with efficient power management circuitry, the integrated switching regulator operates over a voltage range of 1.8 to 3.6 V. Furthermore, its power conversion efficiency of 90% makes it ideal for battery-powered applications.

The S2-LP transceiver is supported by three development kits: the STEVAL-FKI915V1, STEVAL-FKI433V1, and STEVAL-FKI868V1, all available from Mouser Electronics. RF wireless applications that can use S2-LP include IoT devices, wireless alarm systems, smart metering, smart lighting, industrial monitoring, building automation, and smart home systems.
