Suitable for equipment and systems requiring pulse or continuous wave support

Analog Devices (ADI) has launched the HMC8205, a broadband gallium nitride (GaN) power amplifier that boasts best-in-class performance in a small package.

The highly integrated HMC8205, which supports frequencies from 300 MHz to 6 GHz, provides key features required by system application designers, such as wireless infrastructure, radar, public mobile radio, and general-purpose amplification test equipment requiring pulse or continuous wave support.

The HMC8205 GaN MMIC amplifier provides high integration, gain, efficiency, and wide bandwidth in a small package that minimizes the use of external circuitry, reducing the overall number of components and board space.

The HMC8205 implements a DC feed/RF bias choke, DC blocking capacitor, and driver stage in a single package, and with a Power Added Efficiency (PAE) of 44 percent, it can provide an additional 35W of power in instantaneous bandwidth. Unlike other products, the HMC8205 supports both pulsed and continuous waves.
