Integration of Amazon GreenGrass and our gateway platform

NXP is partnering with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the IoT sector.

NXP announced that it has integrated Amazon Greengrass with its Layerscape Intelligent Gateway platform.

Amazon GreenGrass is software that extends AWS cloud capabilities to local devices, enabling data collection and analysis closer to the point of information generation and allowing secure communication over local networks. This integration enables efficient security support for edge computing and Internet of Things (IoT) cloud interactions.

This enables world-class secure IoT access in homes, offices, and other business environments, and enhances business agility. Moving forward, the two companies plan to explore various collaboration opportunities in the fields of edge computing and cloud platforms, ranging from product R&D to business development and market entry, with the goal of IoT data security through innovative collaboration.

The NXP Intelligent Gateway Platform uses its proprietary QorIQ Layerscape processor architecture. In addition to advanced edge computing and security performance, this family of processors seamlessly extends AWS cloud capabilities to the device level, enabling real-time processing of information collected locally by internet users, as well as management, analysis, and persistent storage within the cloud. The Layerscape series processors are the industry's smallest, lowest-power products featuring a high-performance 64-bit ARMv8 architecture. This product line includes single-core, dual-core, quad-core, and 8-core system-on-chips (SoCs).

In addition, this processor family integrates powerful network, security, storage, and TSN hardware acceleration engines with programmable application interfaces. With excellent high performance and low power consumption, Layerscape processors have established themselves as the preferred platform for SDN/NFV edge computing nodes, as well as intelligent gateway devices for enterprise, industrial, and home use.
