Mirae Technology (CEO Jeong Gyun-tae), an OTP specialized company, announced on the 27th that it supplied an OTP authentication system to Kakao Bank Korea (Kakao Bank), which was officially launched.

In particular, among the OTPs supplied this time, the card-type OTP is the first in the financial sector to apply the Kakao Friends character design, which has recently become a craze, and is a new attempt at 'character commercialization of OTP cards.'

Kim Soo-yong, head of the Future Technology Financial Business Division, said, “The launch of Kakao Bank’s character card-type OTP with the Kakao Friends design is expected to have a significant impact on sales of card-type OTP, which have been rapidly increasing in demand as their convenience has become widely known through word of mouth.”

Mirae Technology recently acquired FIDO certification, an international biometric authentication standard, and is developing various mobile authentication technologies, such as launching a mobile OTP solution (BIOTP) combined with FIDO biometric authentication. Following K Bank, the supply of the OTP authentication system to Kakao Bank has laid the foundation for supplying various security solutions in the non-face-to-face financial transaction sector, which is becoming increasingly active, such as internet-only banks.
