Launch of signal conditioner suitable for high-speed transmission environments
An easy-to-use repeater/retaker with FR-4 signal range of 10Gbps
Reduce enterprise server, router, and switch BOM costs by expanding to over 50 inches
TI Korea (CEO Kent Jeon, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) February 3, 2012 – TI has launched 10 new signal conditioners capable of driving high-speed interface standards including 10G/40G/100G Ethernet, 10G-KR (802.3ap), InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, and CPRI. These new IC products add to TI's comprehensive family of repeater and retimer products to prevent signal corruption caused by insertion loss, jitter, reflection, and crosstalk in high-speed enterprise servers, routers, and switches. Manufactured using TI's high-performance BiCOMOS SiGe process technology, the new signal conditioners deliver industry-leading signal reach performance at less than 6mW per gigabit. (For more information on these products and TI's up to 28G signal conditioning technology, please refer to www.ti.com/sigcon-pr )
"As transmission speeds increase, signal integrity requirements are becoming increasingly stringent. This issue is exacerbated by the use of highly integrated ASIC and ASSP solutions employing increasingly smaller transistor technology, and by the decreasing voltage rails and output voltages, making systems more vulnerable to random jitter and crosstalk interfaces." "TI's new retimer and repeater products can not only solve these complex signal integrity degradation issues but also lower power consumption," he said.
Key Features and Benefits of the DS1xxDF410, DS1xxRT410, and DS100KRxxx Product Families
• FR-4 backplanes extend reach of 50 inches or more, and 26A WG copper cables extend reach of 20 meters or more.
• 36dB input EQ and 12dB output DE (de-emphasis)
• Multi-tap DFE (decision feedback equalizer)
• CDR (clock and data recovery) with internal clock synthesis
• Repeaters consume 65mW per channel, and retimers using the CDR function consume 150mW per channel.
• Reduction of BOM (bill of materials) costs and simplification of system design
• Simplify Link Tuning with Perfect Adaptive EQ
• Prevents external reference clock with internal clock synthesis function
• Simplify system debugging with built-in eye monitor and PRBS generator
• Single power supply that does not require RF chokes
These signal conditioners can drive optical cables and direct-attach passive copper cables for latency-sensitive front-port line cards and meet SFF8431 (SFP+) standards. These signal conditioners can also compensate for backplane loss and crosstalk and reduce the gauge thickness of active copper cable assemblies. Since these IC products are provided as pin-compatible products, system designers can select repeaters (EQ and DE drivers), retimers (EQ, CDR, DE drivers), and enhancement retimers (EQ, CDR, DFE, DE drivers) suitable for achieving desired link performance and system costs without the need to modify the board design.
• DS125DF410 (9.8G~12.5G), DS110DF410 (8.5G~11.3G), DS100DF410 (10.3G) Multi-rate Quad-channel Enhanced Retimer provides Multi-Tap DFE, Adaptive EQ, CDR, and DE drivers.
• The DS125RT410 (9.8G–12.5G), DS110RT410 (8.5G–11.3G), and DS100RT410 (10.3G) multi-rate quad-channel retimer products provide Adaptive EQ, CDR, and DE drivers.
• The DS100KR800 8-channel (unidirectional) and DS100KR401 8-channel (bidirectional) repeaters support x4/x8 10G-KR (802.3ap) connectivity and enable seamless end-to-end transport equalization negotiation between the host controller and endpoints as defined by the 802.3ap standard.
TI provides new 10.3G and 14.2G mux/buffers that support 2-port and 4-port switching capabilities to support redundancy and fail-over applications. These devices support 10G-KR transmission link training.
• The DS100MB203 multi-rate, dual-lane 2:1/1:2 mux/buffer provides EQ and DE functions and supports data speeds up to 10.3G.
• The SN65LVCP114 quad-lane 2:1/1:2 mux/buffer provides linear EQ functionality and supports data rates up to 14.2G.
In addition, TI provides the TLK10002 10G multi-rate transceiver, LMK03806 clock generator, simple switcher, and temperature sensor to complement these signal conditioner products in the system.
