SAS Korea appoints Oh Byung-jun, a former Oracle Korea employee, as its new CEO.
Published2017.08.14 12:07SAS Korea announced the appointment of Oh Byung-joon as its new CEO, effective August 16th. Oh will oversee SAS Korea's business operations and focus on strengthening SAS Korea's leadership as an analytics company and driving new growth.
CEO Oh Byung-jun is an IT expert with over 27 years of experience in diverse fields, including data management, advanced analytics, data warehouses, and cloud computing, working for global IT companies and has been recognized for his outstanding business performance.
Prior to joining SAS Korea, CEO Oh Byung-jun served as Vice President of the Middleware Business Unit and Strategic Customer Business Unit at Oracle Korea, where he oversaw key accounts and demonstrated outstanding management leadership. Notably, he successfully developed strategic partnership models with major domestic corporations and spearheaded the acquisition of new customers across all cloud platforms, including SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS, achieving remarkable results.
Prior to this, he served as CEO of Teradata Korea and oversaw the Fusion Middleware and Technology Business Division at Oracle Korea. CEO Byung-Jun Oh, who began his career at IBM Korea, has worked in sales and consulting across various business areas, including data warehouse, business intelligence (BI), data mining, SOA, and WebSphere.

SAS Korea is supplying the SAS Smart Factory Analytics Solution to Kolon Benite, an IT service specialist company, and is promoting the establishment of an integrated big data analytics platform for Kolon that can support Industry 4.0. A global oil company is processing and analyzing massive data of 3 trillion per minute from 2.1 million sensors in real time, achieving over 3 million dollars in implementation benefits. Domestically, a proof of concept (PoC) was recently conducted targeting global manufacturers, demonstrating a defect reduction effect of over 90%. SAS Hosts Financial Enterprise Machine Learning Strategy Seminar
SAS Korea held a financial seminar today at the Westin Josun Seoul Hotel, addressing approximately 180 key financial industry stakeholders. The company presented strategies for building an optimal enterprise machine learning platform and leveraging analytical synergies across the entire organization. The financial industry has recently been leading AI-related trends by implementing machine learning across various fields including loan assessment, fraud prevention, and customer service. According to global market research firm IDC, the financial industry spent 1.5 billion dollars (approximately 1.7 trillion won) on cognitive and artificial intelligence systems in 2016 alone, making the largest investments in the AI sector alongside the retail industry. However, behind high expectations for artificial intelligence and rapid adoption, several challenges have emerged due to lack of realistic implementation approaches and enterprise-wide objectives, resulting in systems being limited to specific domains or delayed progress. In response, SAS held this seminar to present implementable AI technologies, business application methods, and success cases that financial companies are considering.

SAS Korea: Learn Big Data Analytics via E-learning
SAS Korea (CEO Cho Sung-shik) announced that it will expand support for big data analysis e-learning courses to foster domestic data scientists. SAS Korea provides global e-learning courses with Korean subtitles at no cost, and also offers discounts and free exam application benefits for package courses in preparation for the SAS international certification 'SCBP (SAS Certified Base Programmer)'. Accordingly, SAS Korea is expanding support for global e-learning courses in order to broaden the foundation of domestic data scientists. The 'SAS Programming 1: Fundamentals' course, which allows learners to study from basic SAS program concepts through program writing, now offers Korean subtitle support and is provided free of charge. Participants can take the course by registering on the SAS Korea website (www.sas.com/korea) and applying for the free e-learning course (http://bit.ly/2s8IH3r). Participants can easily manage their courses through the 'My Training (support.sas.com/training/)' page on the SAS website and take courses freely according to their individual learning pace and comprehension level. SalePoint Signs Multi-Year Partnership Agreement with AWS… Promoting Identity Security that Integrates Even AI Agents
Sailpoint has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with AWS and is moving forward with establishing an integrated governance system that manages both human and non-human identities together. The plan is to consistently manage access permissions in an environment where AI agents are increasing as work execution entities, while applying the principle of least privilege and automated policy enforcement. The two companies plan to jointly expand capabilities to manage the identities of various entities, including AI agents, within a single layer in the AWS environment. Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
