50 meters wide and 14 meters high using 820 55-inch OLED panels

LG Electronics has installed the world's largest 'OLED signage' in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

LG Electronics installed a giant 'OLED signage' measuring 50 meters wide and 14 meters tall using 820 55-inch OLEDs in the Dubai Mall, the world's largest shopping mall. This OLED signage has a total area of 700 square meters, which is larger than four volleyball courts combined. It consists of 1.7 billion pixels, and if each pixel were lined up in a single line, it would be 11 kilometers long.

Dubai Mall is the world's largest shopping mall, visited by more than 80 million people annually, and has more than 1,200 stores. The giant 'OLED signage' is installed on the top of the large aquarium in the aquarium on the first floor of Dubai Mall. This aquarium can be viewed from the outside without entering the aquarium, making it one of the most popular places for both tourists and locals.

LG Electronics implemented a soft wave-shaped design that symbolizes an aquarium using 'OLED signage'. 'OLED signage' can be customized to various installation sites with curvature. This signage was also listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. The Guinness World Records has certified the 'OLED Signage' installed in Dubai Mall as the world's largest OLED screen.

OLED is thin and light, so it can be used to implement various designs, such as curved shapes. The thickness of the 55-inch OLED signage is only 3.65mm, thinner than two 500 won coins. Unlike LCD, OLED does not have a backlight and each pixel emits light, so it can implement a different level of picture quality. Also, since there is no light leakage, the color is not distorted no matter what angle you look at it from, making it suitable for signage that can be viewed by multiple people at once.

LG Electronics Middle East and Africa Regional Vice President Cha Kook-hwan said, “In Dubai, a city that is worthy of the words ‘world’s best’ and ‘world’s largest,’ another world’s largest has been born,” and emphasized, “We expect the world’s largest ‘OLED Signage’ to become another landmark representing Dubai.”
