VMware Announces Update to Data Center Solutions
Published2017.08.29 14:57VMware announced a major update to its solutions for multi-cloud and modern data centers at VMworld 2017 in Las Vegas, USA.
VMworld is the world's largest virtualization and cloud conference, serving as a platform to introduce and share the latest cloud and IT trends to customers, partners, and IT professionals.
On the first day of VMworld 2017, updates and expanded partnerships for VMware Cloud on AWS, new VMware Cloud Services, and VMware Cloud Foundation were unveiled for multi-cloud environments including private and public clouds.
Along with this, VMware announced vSphere Scale-Out for big data and high-performance computing (HPC) virtualization for modern data centers, the VMware vRealize Network Insight 3.5 update, and the new VMware HCI Acceleration Kit.
VMware is launching 'VMware Cloud on AWS,' a service unveiled through a joint partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the second half of 2016, starting in the AWS-based U.S. West region (Oregon). VMware Cloud on AWS implements VMware Cloud Foundation, an enterprise-grade software-defined data center (SDDC) service, on the AWS Cloud, and VMware provides, sells, and supports it on demand.
Enterprises can run applications using AWS services in VMware vSphere-based private, public, and hybrid cloud environments, and manage necessary resources through existing VMware tools.
VMware has unveiled enhanced VMware Cloud Services to enable enterprises to operate and manage private and public clouds more flexibly. These include VMware AppDefense, VMware Discovery, VMware Cost Insight, Wavefront by VMware, VMware Network Insight, and VMware NSX Cloud.
VMware announced updates to and expanded partnerships for VMware Cloud Foundation, the cloud infrastructure platform first unveiled at last year's VMworld. The newly announced partnerships include CenturyLink, Rackspace, and Fujitsu in the services sector, and Dell EMC's VxRack SDDC, HDS's UCP-RS, Fujitsu's Primeflex, and QCT's QxStack in the integrated systems sector. And authorized VMware partner servers include Cisco, HDS, Fujitsu, and Lenovo.
“This year’s VMworld is a venue to share ways for companies entering the multi-cloud era to enhance their business competitiveness while keeping their data centers up to date,” said Pat Gelsinger, CEO of VMware. “Since operating and managing applications across private and public clouds is no longer an option but a necessity, VMware will serve as a compass guiding the direction in which enterprise cloud needs to move forward.”

VMware has provided desktop and application virtualization solution VMware Horizon to Gyeongbuk Office of Education, implementing a digital workspace that strengthens security and enhances convenience. Gyeongbuk Office of Education, which oversees education policies and administration in Gyeongbuk Province, sought to establish a superior security system capable of protecting critical information of students and schools as various security threats have recently surged. To this end, VMware Horizon was deployed, and virtualization-based logical network segmentation capable of simultaneously preventing external security threats and internal information leakage was established in collaboration with VMware partner company IR Company.

VMware Releases Latest Software Updates to Support Operating Systems
VMware has released the latest updates to Fusion and Workstation, software that enables users to operate or use multiple operating systems (OS) on desktop. 'VMware Fusion 10 Pro' for Mac OS users supports development and testing work on multiple operating systems including Windows and Linux, and enables integration of development work across DevOps and Agile methodologies. Additionally, it runs virtual machines compatible with data centers on Mac OS, supporting design and testing work required for data centers, related networks, or applications. Fusion 10 Pro supports REST API to enable remote virtual machine (VM) management. Enterprises and developers can handle VM operations including inventory management and networking through Fusion in up-to-date development and testing environments.

SalePoint Signs Multi-Year Partnership Agreement with AWS… Promoting Identity Security that Integrates Even AI Agents
Sailpoint has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with AWS and is moving forward with establishing an integrated governance system that manages both human and non-human identities together. The plan is to consistently manage access permissions in an environment where AI agents are increasing as work execution entities, while applying the principle of least privilege and automated policy enforcement. The two companies plan to jointly expand capabilities to manage the identities of various entities, including AI agents, within a single layer in the AWS environment. This collaboration is interpreted as a move to design security and governance together in corporate environments where AI adoption is expanding.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
