CAD solution combining IoT and augmented reality (AR)

PTC announced that it will host the 'Digital Engineering Town Festival', a CAD conference introducing smart, connected product design methods.

This online event will feature live Q&A sessions with PTC CAD experts, webinars on product design optimization for the IoT era, and key features of PTC Creo 4.0.

PTC's Creo 4.0 is the world's first and only CAD solution that combines IoT and augmented reality (AR), enabling product design based on a digital twin strategy. By integrating with PTC's IoT platform, ThingWorx Studio, Creo 4.0 users can quickly and easily integrate various AR experiences into their designs and share them with others using a unique ThingMark identifier.

Incorporating augmented reality (AR) experiences into product design not only allows engineers to view design models in the real world, but also allows all stakeholders in the review process to communicate and accurately understand dimensions, proportions, and aesthetics.

AR experiences are provided in a lightweight, illustrative form, depicting models developed in Creo. This allows users to protect CAD data and facilitate easier publishing, loading, and viewing. Furthermore, the inherent technical specificity of AR allows users to easily gather diverse input from stakeholders.

PTC will host a live Q&A session with its CAD experts at 3 p.m. on the 30th, and will also offer on-demand video services for a limited time until the 30th.
