February 9, 2012 – Wolfson Microelectronics Korea (CEO Kim Ki-tae, www.wolfsonmicro.com ) today announced the 'WM1811', an ultra-compact audio hub solution with the highest output.

The WM1811, an ultra-low power stereo audio hub, is designed to provide rich audio performance while improving the battery life of devices, targeting multimedia devices capable of playing MP3 music and videos, such as tablet PCs, e-books, and media players.

The WM1811 delivers a 100dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) during DAC playback, enabling clean playback of music, videos, and various other audio sources with loud and clear sound quality. In particular, it provides optimized power consumption and performance through 2W stereo Class-D speakers and high-output headphone drivers, allowing for long battery life and the realization of a fantastic sound system. Above all, utilizing the WM1811 enables a perfectly integrated design in a smaller size with fewer components compared to using discrete solutions, thereby reducing PCB area and manufacturing costs.

The WM1811's integrated stereo Class-D speaker driver and Class-W headphone driver minimize power consumption and maximize output during audio playback. In particular, the WM1811 can be applied to a wide range of architectures because it provides stereo full-duplex asynchronous sample rate conversion performance and multi-channel digital mixing performance combined with analog mixing.

In addition, the Wolfson ReTune™ Parametric Equalizer integrated into the WM1811 provides fully programmable coefficients, allowing designers to directly implement speaker frequency response compensation. Furthermore, the dynamic range controller enables the maintenance of constant signal levels in the recording or playback path while maximizing volume and preventing speaker damage caused by overload and clipping.
