Trimble Successfully Concludes First Half Industry-Academic Short-Term Field Training Program … Will Help Activate BIM in Domestic Construction Market

Trimble Korea announced that it has successfully completed its industry-academia collaboration short-term field training program for the first half of 2017. Trimble Korea operates this program twice a year to provide practical assistance to university students seeking employment in the domestic construction industry, achieving successful results that satisfy both hiring and job seeker demands. In addition, the company is providing basic training courses on Tekla software in cooperation with ATCNK, an official Trimble-certified training center.

Students who participated in the industry-academia collaboration short-term field training program have successfully secured employment at Trimble’s clients, Yeonwoo PC Engineering Co., Ltd. and S&D Entech Co., Ltd., and are demonstrating excellent work performance. Yeonwoo PC Engineering is a small giant in the PC engineering sector, which is expected to experience the highest growth rates in the construction industry. Boasting over a decade of accumulated know-how and differentiated technological capabilities, the company is dedicated to employee welfare and the realization of its vision. S&D Entech was newly established in 2015 to strengthen its organization specialized in PC design and BIM, building upon the foundation of S&E Engineering Co., Ltd., which started as a specialized structural design firm in 2001. Kim Do-yeon, who is currently working at Yeonwoo PC Engineering after completing Trimble Korea's industry-academia collaboration program, cited the opportunity to learn on-site information and software usage methods that are difficult to access as a student as a major advantage. "Tekla Structures is an essential tool that can satisfy both the increased accuracy and reduced construction time requirements demanded by construction companies," said Kim. "It provided practical on-site learning and a systematic training program rather than one-off training, which was very helpful for my future job performance."

Yoo Jin-il, who successfully secured employment at S&D Entech, also emphasized that he was able to acquire differentiated competitiveness through short-term field training in industry-academia collaboration. "S&D Entech wins large domestic and international projects based on its 3D precasting know-how," said Yoo. "Because I learned how to use Tekla Structures through Trimble Korea's training program, I was able to be immediately deployed to practical work."

Based on these successful cases, Trimble Korea plans to expand the program into a "Job Experience Camp" starting in the upcoming second half of the year to allow more students to participate. After receiving basic training on Tekla software provided by Trimble, students will gain hands-on experience in the steel and reinforced concrete sectors for a set period. Through this, students will be able to directly experience the process of applying their basic functional training to real-world work.
