Supply of technology capable of exchanging data from automation systems

Hilscher announced that it supplies technology and service packages, along with the netIOT product family, that enable data exchange from automation system components to cloud or IoT-based applications.

The recently released netIOT Edge Gateway NIOT-E-TIJCX-GB-RE is available on the market and provides a central link connecting IT and OT networks.

Since the gateway device itself is integrated as an I/O subscriber in a PROFINET or Ethernet/IP network, it is positioned to periodically exchange with the PLC and can communicate directly with IoT-enabled field devices via OPC UA/MQTT.

Additionally, you can transmit to familiar cloud systems using additional services such as IBM Watson or Microsoft Azure, and you can also configure data flows using Node-RED, a web-based IoT connection editor. Data applications and profiles can be connected and created in this way using over 70 predefined function blocks called 'nodes'.

The device is designed to comply with the cybersecurity standard IEC 62443. In addition, integrated security mechanisms such as the ability to physically disconnect from OT and IT networks, trusted operating systems, systems that can only be started with signed firmware and packages, and encryption techniques applied to the highest level of data transmission ensure data integrity and prevent potential data theft.
