TAS, a service provider focused on the automotive industry, has strengths in ADAS

Siemens announced that it is acquiring TASS International, a global supplier of simulation software.

TASS International provides engineering and testing services focused on the automotive industry and has strengths in autonomous driving, integrated safety, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and tire modeling.

TASS International is headquartered in Helmond, Netherlands, and possesses a rich suite of solution products. This acquisition further strengthens Siemens’ Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software portfolio. It is also expected to further solidify Siemens’ position as a leading provider of systems-driven product development solutions for the global automotive industry.

TASS International is a proven leader in the integrated safety and autonomous driving market, an engineering sector of increasing importance in the industry. "By combining the strengths of TASS International with Siemens PLM software solutions, Siemens has been able to respond more effectively to the current challenges of the automotive industry," he added.

Active safety and ADAS features in automobiles are gradually becoming the standard in the automotive industry. Consequently, connected cars and autonomous vehicles have emerged as strong trends, requiring new standards for the virtual and physical verification of vehicles.

TASS International's primary target industry is the automotive industry, focusing mainly on automated driving solutions and integrated (active and passive) safety. Using TASS International's PreScan software, automotive manufacturers, suppliers, and government agencies can simulate complex traffic scenarios.

Furthermore, automated driving solutions and ADAS can be virtually verified. TASS International also possesses Madymo software for occupant safety modeling, which enables the simulation of the impact of car crashes on the human body. TASS International's Delft-Tire software provides highly accurate tire models for simulating vehicle dynamics, ride, and handling.

TASS International’s simulation software is set to be integrated with Siemens’ Simcenter portfolio’s advanced simulation offerings and the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) solutions from Mentor Graphics, which was recently acquired by Siemens. This combination enables Siemens to provide an integrated solution that allows for early verification of ADAS and autonomous driving systems. In addition, Siemens has become able to provide the world's most complete system-centric product development offerings for autonomous vehicles.

TASS International is integrated into the Siemens PLM Software business unit, which belongs to the Siemens Digital Factory business unit.
