Intersil Expands Ultra-Low-Power, High-Speed ADC Family Delivering Superior Signal-to-Noise Ratio

12/14-bit ADCs from 40 to 250 MSPS, providing excellent dynamic range

September 15, 2011 – Intersil, a global leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, today announced the expansion of its family of low-power, high-speed ADCs that deliver industry-leading signal-to-noise ratios. These new devices offer exceptionally high input frequency performance and simplify system architectures. This reduces the cost of typical baseband architectures while also easing design and manufacturing.

The ISLA212Pxx and ISLA214Pxx series of 12/14-bit ADCs offer sampling rates of up to 130, 200, and 250 MSPS, respectively. This family offers the industry's highest signal-to-noise ratio (greater than 73.0 dBFS at 14 bits and 70.5 dBFS at 12 bits for input frequencies up to 105 MHz) in a high-speed 12/14-bit ADC, while consuming less than 450 mW from a single 1.8 V supply.

The product incorporates Intersil's proprietary FemtoCharge™ technology, which enables ultra-low power consumption without compromising ADC performance. It also enhances accuracy and consumes very little power in high-performance data acquisition and measurement systems, communications test equipment, wideband communications systems, software-defined radios (SDRs), and radar array processing equipment.

The ISLA212Pxx and ISLA214P series are pin-compatible with Intersil's latest ADC products. Pin-compatible ADCs allow designers to reuse designs developed across the ADC family, even replacing them with ADCs with different sample rates or resolutions without requiring hardware changes. Design reuse not only simplifies system development, but also reduces design risk and shortens time to market.
