Samsung hosts conference in San Francisco under theme of 'Connected Thinking'

The 'Samsung Developer Conference 2017 (SDC)' will be held under the theme of 'Connected Thinking' from the 18th to 19th of next month at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, USA. Prior to the event, Samsung Electronics announced this year's keynote speakers and detailed programs.
First, Go Dong-jin, President of Samsung Electronics' Mobile Communications Business, will deliver a keynote address in which he plans to announce Samsung Electronics' vision of connecting diverse products and services to provide intuitive user experiences, as well as new plans to provide users and developers with integrated cloud experiences.
Samsung Electronics is working to build an ecosystem where various devices, software, and services are closely connected to provide easy and consistent user experiences.
Stan Lee, the world-renowned former editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, will present on how 'Connected Thinking' drives creativity and change, while Arianna Huffington, founder and CEO of Thrive Global, will explain philosophy on using technology to create social good together with Marc Mathieu, Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Electronics' U.S. operations.
The SDC will feature technical discussions, hands-on experiences, and panel discussions on diverse topics including IoT, Intelligence, Enterprise, Gaming & Entertainment, Health, Mobile Payment, Security, Smart TV, Virtual Reality, and Wearables.
Additionally, various events will be held including 'stream.Code101' where development tools for VR, Samsung DeX, and SmartThings can be experienced in greater depth, 'Open Theater' featuring startup idea presentations and industry expert sessions, and diverse programs such as 'Ask-Me-Anything' with Stan Lee.
The Samsung Developer Conference was first held in 2013 and serves as a venue where developers, designers, content creators, and industry professionals participate to discuss and exchange ideas on next-generation technologies. The event last year was attended by over 4,000 people.

Samsung Electronics to add 11nm process early next year and start 7nm in the second half
Samsung Electronics has added a new 11-nanometer process (11LPP, Low Power Plus) to its foundry advanced process roadmap. 11LPP is a process based on the proven process stability and design environment of the 14-nanometer node. According to the company, at the same power consumption as the 14LPP process, performance can be improved by up to 15%, and chip area can be reduced by up to 10%. Additionally, Samsung Electronics stated that it is smoothly developing a 7-nanometer process with industry-first EUV technology, targeting production launch in the second half of 2018.

Samsung Electronics strengthens its automotive electronics business by investing in a specialized ADAS company.
Samsung Electronics is establishing a $300 million 'Samsung Automotive Innovation Fund' to strengthen its automotive business. The 'Automotive Innovation Fund' will be operated to secure technologies in autonomous driving and connected car sectors, including smart sensors, machine vision, artificial intelligence, connectivity solutions, and security. As the first strategic investment of the fund, Samsung Electronics has decided to invest 75 million euros in TTTech, a global leader in autonomous driving platforms and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

SalePoint Signs Multi-Year Partnership Agreement with AWS… Promoting Identity Security that Integrates Even AI Agents
Sailpoint has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with AWS and is moving forward with establishing an integrated governance system that manages both human and non-human identities together. Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
