Autodesk Launches Product Design Collection for Leveraging Simulation and CAM Tools
Published2017.09.18 13:24Autodesk announced the launch of the 'Product Design & Manufacturing Collection,' which adds products and features to the existing 'Product Design Collection' at no extra cost.
With this update, Autodesk customers can now use simulation and CAM tools together through Nastran In-CAD and HSM CAM software, world-class simulation software newly added to the 'Product Design and Manufacturing Collection'. Additionally, it becomes possible to use powerful 2D and 3D CAD, CAE, and CAM applications for product development and manufacturing planning in an integrated manner.
"Autodesk has been communicating with customers across various industries, including automotive, industrial machinery, and consumer goods, and is receiving feedback that there is a need for a more streamlined software experience," said Jong-ho Jeong, Senior Vice President of the Manufacturing Business Division at Autodesk Korea. "Customers want interactions between products to take place within a single package." "In other words, they want a workflow where product designers can easily deliver 3D models to engineers, who can then conduct simulations and design tests, and finally deliver the final design to the production team to begin manufacturing," he explained.
He also added, “The updated ‘Product Design and Manufacturing Collection,’ reflecting these customer opinions, includes expert-level tools needed by manufacturing development teams that comprehensively carry out the entire production process from design to engineering,” and “This is an integrated application package of 2D and 3D CAD, CAE, and CAM for product development and manufacturing planning.”
Customers who sign up for the Product Design and Manufacturing Collection membership can use existing products such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, Vault, ReCap Pro, 3ds Max, and Factory Design Utilities, as well as innovative tools such as the cloud-based Fusion 360 product innovation platform and cutting-edge technologies such as generative design.
Autodesk Industry Collections are available for purchase and use worldwide through membership. You can purchase directly through Autodesk Authorized Partners or the Autodesk Online Store, selecting either a quarterly or annual membership period. License types, such as single-user (individual) and multi-user (shared) rights, are also available.
Autodesk plans to showcase its software and cutting-edge technologies, as well as its product design and manufacturing collections, at Autodesk University (AU) Korea, its largest event, which is celebrating its third year. This event will be held at the COEX Convention Center on September 27 and is expected to bring together over 1,200 professionals and industry workers from the manufacturing, architecture & construction, and media & entertainment sectors.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation.
