A forum for discussion will be opened to apply cloud technology to the management and utilization of spatial information, enabling a wide range of users, including public institutions, private companies, and aspiring entrepreneurs, to easily utilize spatial information.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport held the 'Spatial Information Dedicated Cloud Policy Forum' at the Western Chosun Portel in Seoul on the 20th. This forum will be attended by approximately 50 domestic cloud experts, cloud policy officials, and aspiring entrepreneurs, who will present on topics related to cloud and spatial information and engage in in-depth discussions.

The cloud is expected to lower the high barriers to entry for private companies and aspiring entrepreneurs into the spatial information industry by providing specialized software and hardware necessary for spatial information processing.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has been promoting policies to revitalize spatial information, including free access to spatial information, the introduction of a quality management system for open spatial information, and the holding of a spatial information utilization competition to support individual entrepreneurs.

The purpose of the spatial information cloud service being introduced this time is to foster new industries and create jobs by fostering an environment where anyone can easily utilize spatial information and promoting the development of diverse private content.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated, “This forum is the first to introduce a differentiated, private user-centered spatial information convergence and complex utilization service strategy using cloud technology.”

“We hope that various cloud policy organizations, industry and academic experts, and private sector users will work together to develop more mature and advanced spatial information cloud services,” he said.
