LS Electric, Samsung SDI, LG Chem, and others participate to showcase their latest products and technologies.

The 'Energy Plus 2017' exhibition, where you can grasp the trends of the future energy industry at a glance, was held.

Organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and held at COEX in Seoul from the 27th to the 29th, this exhibition features the latest products and technologies in the fields of smart grids, secondary batteries, and electric/generator equipment from a total of 524 companies, including 71 companies from 27 countries.


LS Electric created an experience hall to showcase demonstrations of its next-generation renewable DC solution strategic technologies, including DC-only power solutions, smart equipment preventive diagnosis and partial replacement solutions, and microgrids based on ESS (Energy Storage System) and EMS (Energy Management System).



LG Chem set up a booth under the concept of "LG Chem leads the way to a clean, fine-dust-free path" and showcased small "Free Form" batteries that can be custom-made for any shape, including wearable devices such as smartwatches and curved IT devices.

Samsung SDI exhibited high-performance cylindrical batteries with a 50% increase in capacity compared to existing ones, including the 'Circular 21700', batteries for hybrid vehicles, and ESS products.



Pmgrow introduced 'WEBUS,' an integrated solution for wired charging electric bus batteries, charging infrastructure, and control. The battery pack, consisting of two 58kWh batteries connected in parallel, can extend service life through charge/discharge control and error prevention via a proprietary battery management system. The management system enables consistent performance management.




Tesla's Model S is on display in front of the Electric Vehicle Expo. Although the hood is open, the engine compartment remains pristine. The absence of a transmission inside the vehicle is also a characteristic of electric vehicles.


Renault Motors exhibited the SM3 ZE, scheduled for release in 2018, and the two-seater Twizy, which can be charged with 220V. The SM3 ZE can travel 21km on a single charge.


BMW's i3 and charger

Charging stations remain a challenge to be addressed in order to increase the adoption rate of electric vehicles. Charging methods also differ between companies, requiring the provision of chargers depending on whether the system uses alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC). A BMW official explained, "We are currently in discussions regarding the standardization of charging ports." Meanwhile, it was stated, "Demand for electric vehicles is increasing as exhaust gas fuel efficiency regulations have been tightened this year, with one dealership selling three units."
