The '1st KETI Mobius 2.0 IoT Service Developer Contest', which began last July, has come to a close.

KETI held an awards ceremony for the best works on the 27th after conducting a final evaluation of the 13 teams that advanced to the main competition.

Mobius, developed by KETI, is the world's first open-source IoT platform based on oneM2M, a representative IoT standard. It leads international standardization, boasts world-class compatibility, and features high openness and easy and simple development.

This competition was hosted by KETI and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Internet of Things Association, and the Korea Internet of Things Society. A total of 32 small and medium-sized enterprises and university student development teams participated, with 13 teams' outstanding ideas selected for the finals and receiving comprehensive service development coaching, including expert Mobius training and mentoring.

On the 27th, at the Courtyard Marriott (Pangyo) Hotel, an awards ceremony was held to select four excellent teams through a final evaluation that comprehensively evaluated the originality and differentiation of the application service for the idea, the validity of the idea, the appropriateness of the implementation result, and the ripple effect of the result, with the participation of the development team, technology development mentors, etc.

The grand prize winner was the Minister of Science and ICT Award (prize money of 3 million won), the best prize winner was the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute Director Award (prize money of 2 million won), the excellence prize winner was the Korea Internet of Things Association President Award (prize money of 1 million won), and the encouragement prize winner was the Korea Internet of Things Society President Award (prize money of 500,000 won). Additionally, the four winning teams will be given the opportunity to showcase and promote their development technologies to businesses and the general public at the Internet of Things International Exhibition, held from October 11th to 13th, and to commercialize their technologies.

The award went to the 'Rainer' team from the Korea National Open University for their real-time mini car performance analysis service, which demonstrated a service that remotely monitors the vehicle's status and movement in real time by attaching an acceleration sensor to a mini car (RC car).

The grand prize went to Ajou University's 'IoT-Chain' team, which built an IoT security system using blockchain technology for smart meters and implemented power usage monitoring and smart control services.

The Excellence Award went to the 'Smart CPS Lab' team at Korea Polytechnic University for their intelligent fire surveillance system, which utilizes low-cost camera sensors to intelligently recognize the surroundings and provide notifications of fire situations.

Lastly, the Encouragement Award was given to Media Log Co., Ltd.'s 'iAir Team' for its real-time fine dust concentration monitoring and remote filter management service through big data analysis.

KETI President Park Cheong-won said, “This competition has provided a venue for small and medium-sized enterprises and university students to technically implement creative service ideas,” and added, “We will continue to support the growth of the Mobius developer ecosystem and provide continuous upgrades and technical support so that our companies can quickly introduce global services in the IoT market.”
