As headphone performance improves, their prices are rising. Futuresource Consulting reports that the average headphone price has surpassed $40. Oculus expands its VR lineup
Oculus has released two new HMDs, separate from the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR: the Santa Cruz, a wireless HMD with full motion tracking, and the Oculus Go, a mobile headset that replaces a smartphone with built-in electronics. Facebook's head of VR, Hugo Barra, told The Verge that the Santa Cruz represents a "third category." The Santa Cruz features positional tracking and motion controllers, allowing it to play Rift-based games. This also fits in well with Microsoft's upcoming lineup of low-cost Windows Mixed Reality headsets.
Dubai Police Evolution: Levitating Motorcycles?
At the GITEX technology seminar held at the Dubai World Trade Center, the hoverbike, the Scorpion, was on display. Powered by electricity, it can reach a maximum height of 5 meters and reach speeds of 70 km/h. When unmanned, it can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h. For now, the motorcycle's propeller and wide stance are being used for promotional purposes, citing concerns about safety. A Dubai police official told Gulf News, "After extensive testing of the hoverbike prototype, we plan to deploy it alongside manned and unmanned drones for a variety of applications beyond its initial suppression purposes."
