Launch of General Purpose 8-Bit PIC® Microcontroller with Integrated Next-Generation Digital and Analog Peripherals
Microchip Technology (Korea Representative: Byung-Don Han), a global specialist in microcontroller, analog, and flash IP solutions, unveiled a new family of 8-bit microcontrollers (MCUs) featuring next-generation analog and digital peripherals at the Embedded World Conference held in Germany today. By integrating various functions, this product can be utilized in general-purpose applications as well as applications involving battery charging, LED lighting, ballast control, power conversion, and system control. The Complementary Output Generator (COG) peripheral integrated into the PIC12F(HV)752 MCU provides non-overlapping compensation waveforms for inputs such as comparators and pulse width modulation (PWM) peripherals, while simultaneously implementing various functions such as dead-band control, automatic shutdown, automatic reset, phase control, and blanking control. The new product also features 1.75KB of program memory that allows reading and programming while the system is running, 64B of RAM, an on-chip 10-bit ADC, a CCP (Capture/Compare/PWM) module, a high-performance comparator (response speed as low as 40ns), and two 50mA I/Os, enabling engineers to increase overall system functionality while reducing costs.

Engineers are constantly under pressure to increase system performance and efficiency while lowering system costs. These requirements are even more severe in the latest LED lighting and battery charging applications. The PIC12F(HV)752 MCU addresses these requirements by providing a variety of on-chip, general-purpose, and dedicated peripherals, such as an integrated COG, a high-performance comparator, and a 50mA output to directly drive FETs. As the high-voltage product in this family, the PIC12HV752 MCU integrates a shunt regulator, enabling operation from as low as 2V to a user-defined, unspecified maximum voltage level with an operating current of less than 2mA. This high-voltage product features high-voltage power rails and is suitable for cost-sensitive applications. Additionally, it integrates a 4-channel 10-bit ADC, enabling the implementation of various sensors, including capacitive touch, and mTouch™ sensing applications.
