LG Uplus announced on Wednesday, the 25th, that it has launched 'IoT Air Quality Alert,' which measures indoor air quality in real time and notifies users of the appropriate time to ventilate by comparing it with the outside air via a smartphone.

This product measures indoor ultrafine dust, fine dust, temperature, and humidity information every minute and displays it as a score* so that it can be understood at a glance through a smartphone app. You can view detailed information by tapping the measurement result in the app, and the LED indicator at the top of the measuring device also displays the air quality status level using different colors.

It can be used in conjunction with the outdoor IoT air quality sensors that LG Uplus is supplying to apartment complexes of partner construction companies such as Hoban Construction, Hwaseong Industrial, and Doosan Construction.

For example, if the outdoor air quality is better than the indoor air, a ventilation alarm is sent to a smartphone, and conversely, if the outdoor air is worse than the indoor air, indoor air can be managed by remotely operating IoT air purifiers, IoT ventilators, etc., connected to the app.

Its ultra-light weight of only 188g and small size (10.6*10.7*6 cm) that a child can hold with one hand also make it easy to move and store.

LG Uplus conducted a customer perception survey ahead of the product launch, and the results showed that the level of interest in air quality monitors among households with children exceeded 80%. The most important value cited for using the air quality measurement service was 'identifying the appropriate time for ventilation' through the linkage of indoor and outdoor air quality, followed by 'determining whether to let children go out.'

In particular, the reliability of air quality information obtained through apps, portal sites, and TV/radio broadcasts was only about 50%, which is attributed to the fact that it does not reflect the actual air quality of living spaces in real time.

As the product reflects customer needs such as "identifying the appropriate time for ventilation" and "comparing indoor and outdoor air quality in actual living spaces" from the development stage, LG Uplus expects it to receive a particularly positive response from parents with young children.
