LG Electronics "Coding is an Essential Competency for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Era"
Published2017.10.31 16:08LG Electronics is actively cultivating in-house coding experts to lead the fourth industrial revolution era.
LG Electronics held a Software Coding Expert certification ceremony on the 30th at the Seocho R&D Campus in Yangjaedong, Seoul. CTO (Chief Technology Officer) President Ahn Seung-kwon, Vice President Park Il-pyung, Head of Software Center, and Executive Director Cho Taek-il of the Convergence Research Institute attended the event.
LG Electronics selected a total of 14 coding experts this year. In the process of selecting coding experts, approximately 1,000 software developers from domestic and overseas research institutes engaged in fierce competition. From May to September, LG Electronics held a coding competition called "Code Jam" and selected outstanding talent with exceptional coding abilities.
In particular, among the 14 coding experts selected this time, 6 are affiliated with the Software Center, Convergence Center, Appliances Research Institute, and other departments, taking charge of tasks related to the fourth industrial revolution such as artificial intelligence and big data.
Coding experts can participate in overseas conferences and receive seminar activity funds and the latest notebooks. They also participate in internal development projects requiring coding support as software mentors and conduct lectures and seminars. LG Electronics has selected a total of 93 coding experts from 2012 to the present.
LG Electronics CTO President Ahn Seung-kwon emphasized at the certification ceremony, "Coding is an essential competency for the fourth industrial revolution era including artificial intelligence, big data, IoT, and smart factories," and added, "We hope that coding experts will take the lead in LG Electronics pioneering the fourth industrial revolution era."
To enhance the completeness of software development, LG Electronics operates various in-house certification systems in addition to coding experts, including △"Software Architect," a design expert, and △"SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) expert," who is responsible for software quality from the development stage.

LG Electronics' premium TV, 'LG OLED TV', is receiving recognition for its outstanding performance across countries worldwide.
