LG V30, get a sneak peek at Android OS 'Oreo'
Published2017.11.02 16:45LG Electronics is incorporating customer feedback into the new Android operating system (OS) to be applied to the LG V30. The plan is to ensure that users can stably enjoy top-tier performance and convenience even after the new OS upgrade.
LG Electronics is running the 'LG OS Preview' program for LG V30 users to try out the Android 8.0 (hereinafter 'Oreo') OS in advance. Any LG V30 user can participate regardless of their mobile carrier.
The application process is also simple. Users can apply by launching the 'Quick Help' app on the LG V30 and clicking the 'LG OS Preview' banner. Once users receive and execute the 'Software Update' notification messages sent out sequentially throughout this month, the wireless OS upgrade will proceed.
Users can exchange information by posting various opinions on the 'Forum,' a free bulletin board within the 'Quick Help' app. If users freely leave suggestions for improvements while using 'Oreo,' LG Electronics plans to incorporate them into the official OS upgrade starting in December.
Google's latest OS, 'Oreo,' not only improves basic performance such as speed and battery life but also adds various convenience features, including screen layout and graphics. Software optimization speeds up startup and booting, and power consumption is reduced by minimizing power when apps are not in use. Additionally, convenience features are included, such as the ability to continue watching videos in a small screen even when switching to another app, and support for a wider variety of audio devices like high-quality wireless headsets.
Lee Sang-kyu, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics’ Korea Mobile Group, emphasized, “We will continue to provide services that allow users to fully enjoy top-tier performance by meticulously reflecting every single customer feedback without missing anything.”

LG전자 프리미엄 TV인 ‘LG 올레드 TV’가 세계 각국에서 뛰어난 성능을 인정받고 있다. LG 올레드 TV(모델명: LG OLEDB7V)는 최근 덴마크를 대표하는 소비자 매거진 ‘탱크(Taenk)’가 실시한 TV 성능 평가에서 80점을 획득해 전체 171개 TV 모델 중 1위를 차지했다. ‘탱크(Taenk)’는 ‘LG 올레드 TV’에 대해 “LCD 제품 보다 화질이 뛰어나며, 최고의 TV를 찾고 있다면 이 제품을 선택해야 한다”고 극찬했다.

LG전자 “코딩은 4차 산업혁명 시대에 반드시 필요한 역량”
LG전자가 4차 산업혁명 시대를 선도하기 위해 사내 코딩전문가를 적극 육성한다. LG전자는 30일 서울 양재동 서초R&D캠퍼스에서 소프트웨어 코딩전문가(Coding* Expert) 인증식을 열었다. 이 자리에는 CTO(Chief Technology Officer, 최고기술책임자) 안승권 사장, 소프트웨어센터장 박일평 부사장, 컨버전스연구소 조택일 전무 등이 참석했다. LG전자는 올해 총 14명의 코딩전문가를 선발했다. 코딩전문가를 선정하기 까지 국내외 연구소 소속 1,000여 명의 소프트웨어 개발자가 치열한 경쟁을 펼쳤다. LG전자는 지난 5월부터 9월까지 코딩 경연대회인 ‘코드잼(Code Jam)’을 열고 코딩 능력이 탁월한 우수 인재를 선발했다.
