IBM Korea announced today that Korea Seven, which operates approximately 9,200 7-Eleven convenience stores nationwide, has introduced IBM Power System servers and IBM FlashSystem, an all-flash storage system, to replace the store database (DB) system used for store ordering and inventory management and key headquarters operations.

Korea Seven's new database system allows it to quickly process massive amounts of data, improves order management efficiency, and enhances the satisfaction of franchise owners and customers.

By introducing IBM Power Systems and IBM Flash Systems, which offer high performance and stability, 7-Eleven has seen improvements in the speed of key tasks such as closing and batching, as well as in the speed of placing store orders, delivering order details to each department and supplier, and requesting delivery.

According to 7-Eleven, the superior performance provided by IBM Power Systems servers and storage reduced batch job times by more than a third. In addition, stable DB operation has become possible, saving on labor costs. In addition, with expanded data storage capacity, it has become possible to operate the DB server without any interruption or load even when adding data from other areas such as logistics and sales in addition to inventory data.

7-Eleven convenience store owners also welcomed the replacement of their store DB systems, saying that the overall ordering system speed has improved and that work processing has become faster thanks to the quicker response speed even during rush hours (8-9 AM) when orders are concentrated.
