The Los Angeles Auto Show and AutoMobility LA today announced the list of experts participating in the 2017 design/developer program. The design/developer program for this show, held at the center of automotive design, will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 during AutoMobility LA.

The core of AutoMobility LA's design program is the annual design/developer challenge competition sponsored by Microsoft, where participants compete to receive judges' awards, industry awards, and public awards. A panel of experts comprised of the show's organizers will evaluate participants in each field and select five finalists to present their concepts live at AutoMobility LA. The 2017 judges' award will be announced immediately following the finalists' presentations on November 29.

Teams competing in the challenge competition will submit brief videos and supporting materials needed for judges' review. The judging panel will evaluate each concept based on overall creativity, the form and function of "smarter" vehicles and buildings, impact on people's lives, utilization of Los Angeles city-related data, and alignment with this year's theme "A Smarter L.A. in 2060."

Seleta Reynolds, Director of the Los Angeles Department of Transportation and a judge for this year's design/developer challenge competition, stated, "Fundamentally, as residents of the city that automobiles are shaping, we are very curious to see how the competition participants will utilize our data to present solutions for mobility and infrastructure in 2060." She added, "We hope the participating teams will show us how we can dream of a city where vehicles that require no driving at all move vertically through technology."
