LG Uplus Launches Google VR-Exclusive OTT Service App
Published2017.11.16 17:02LG Uplus announced that it has launched the 'U+ Video Portal VR' app, a mobile internet video (OTT) service, through Google Daydream, Google's dedicated VR platform.
The 'U + Video Portal VR' app is a service that provides free VOD, 360-degree videos, and real-time channels available on the mobile TV U + Video Portal in a virtual space.
You can use the service by installing the Google Daydream app from the Google Play Store and wearing the Daydream View. The Daydream View is Google's latest virtual reality (VR) device that allows you to enjoy videos on a large screen by wearing it like glasses while on the go.
Google Daydream is a VR-exclusive content and service store that provides 114 VR apps, including U+ Video Portal, and is available on △LG Electronics V30 △Samsung Electronics Galaxy S8 & S8+/Note 8 △Google Pixel Phone/Pixel XL/Pixel 2 XL △2 Huawei models △3 Motorola models, etc.
To increase customer satisfaction, a feature is also provided that allows changing the screen size to three modes (large/normal/small). 'VR Cinema,' which allows viewing on a large screen, utilizes the latest HEVC codec to provide a clearer picture quality than that of conventional VR, and is expected to deeply impress customers.
The HEVC codec is a method with twice the compression efficiency compared to AVC (Advanced Video Coding), the most widely used video codec technology currently, so even for video of the same quality, the compression efficiency is twice as high, which can reduce data usage.
In particular, a key advantage is that customers can easily find the VOD they want using the controller (remote control) while wearing the lightweight and breathable Daydream View.
Koo Tae-hyung, Head of Mobile Service 1 at LG Uplus, stated, “By providing the U+ Video Portal VR app service on the Google Daydream platform one step ahead of our competitors' video platform services, we plan to continue discovering and providing a variety of video content that customers enjoy.”

Why AR, Expected to Surpass the VR Market, Is Attracting Attention in Terms of Commercialization
Among the technologies showcased in Apple's new iPhone X, released in its 10th anniversary, the standout technology is 'facial recognition'. This technology is implemented through the TrueDepth camera system, a 3D camera based on a 3D sensing module. There is another technology made possible by a 3D camera that measures depth. That is 'augmented reality (AR)'. In June, Apple unveiled 'ARKit', an augmented reality platform, at its developer conference 'WWDC 2017'. Subsequently, it announced that it was developing an app utilizing AR technology through collaboration with IKEA. The iPhone X is equipped with an OLED display and a 3D depth camera for AR implementation. Market research firm Counterpoint Research predicted that the AR market would reach 60 billion dollars by 2021 in next-generation technology competition, growing faster than VR. Why is AR garnering attention from a business perspective?

ETRI develops technology to create 360-degree VR content using smartphones
Domestic researchers have developed a technology that enables the creation of high-definition 360-degree VR (virtual reality) content using smartphones. ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) has partnered with NextIon, a virtual reality solution provider, to develop and successfully commercialize YouVR technology, which enables the production of 360-degree VR content in a mobile environment without dedicated hardware. Users can download and utilize a dedicated app. Previously, producing 360-degree VR content required dedicated hardware such as a multi-camera rig—a device that precisely combines multiple cameras. Additionally, stitching software was necessary to connect photographs simultaneously captured by multiple cameras, as well as software to stitch and join multiple video frames together.

ESP32 Development Environment Selection and GPS Application Implementation
The ESP32 is a microcontroller that integrates Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 12-bit ADC, capacitive touch, PWM, DAC, and UART in a single SoC. However, the abundance of features does not by itself solve the designer's problems. The real challenges lie in selecting the appropriate development environment, determining which pins can be used and which must be avoided, and converting raw data from modules into usable information. This document addresses ESP32 peripheral constraints (ADC2 and Wi-Fi coexistence limitation, UART1 occupancy, ADC non-linear regions), the trade-offs between Arduino IDE and ESP-IDF, and the process from connecting NEO-6M/NEO-M8N GPS modules to UART2, parsing NMEA sentences, and visualizing routes in Google Earth, all organized based on documented references.

MIPI CSI-2, DSI-2, C-PHY, D-PHY Test Solution Technical White Paper
The MIPI interface adopts a burst mode that transitions between low-power (LP) and high-speed (HS) states for low-power consumption, and in return, strict timing rules are imposed on state transitions. Additionally, the high-speed section operates as a packet-based protocol with headers, ECC, and CRC, so verification engineers must handle waveforms and protocols simultaneously. Traditional configurations combining general-purpose oscilloscopes and AWGs reveal limitations in setup complexity, measurement uncertainty, and lack of reproducibility when faced with these requirements. This white paper, based on webinar materials, organizes the structure of this problem and describes how the SV5C-DPTXCPTX generator for receiver testing and SV5C-DPRXCPRX analyzer for transmitter testing integrate state transition testing, stressed eye testing, and protocol analysis into a single bench, along with their application boundaries.
