KT-AEGIS, AI-based Video Security and Energy Building Integrated Management Partnership
Published2017.11.30 16:12KT concluded a "business agreement for providing AI-based video security and energy services" at approximately 70 AEGIS-operated and managed buildings nationwide, together with KT estate, AEGIS Asset Management, and Core Value at KT's headquarters in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.
AEGIS is the nation's No. 1 asset management company rapidly rising in the global real estate market, managing the acquisition, operation, and sale of approximately 70 domestic buildings and 23 overseas buildings. Through this agreement, KT, which is leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution, plans to cooperate with real estate specialists to implement future-oriented smart buildings by combining ICT technology, thereby reshaping the real estate market.
KT has completed the application of the intelligent building energy reduction service "GiGA energy manager" to 26 domestic buildings operated and managed by AEGIS. Additionally, KT plans to install the intelligent video security service "GiGAeyes" at two of the 26 buildings—Noon Square Shopping Mall in Myeongdong, Seoul and V-PLEX Office Building in Gangnam—by year-end, and plans to continue expanding its application next year.
KT's "GiGA energy manager," the world's first AI-integrated energy platform, is a service that displays real-time energy consumption status and analysis results through smartphones or PCs and optimizes building energy costs. Additionally, KT's "GiGAeyes" provides, beyond security services, ▲Full-HD real-time video monitoring and storage, ▲intelligent video analytics alarm and dispatch services, ▲composite IoT sensor alerts (door opening/smoke/motion/sound detection/temperature and humidity), and ▲people counting and heatmap statistical data.
Moreover, KT estate's "Smart Integrated Control Platform," currently under development, is a platform that enables remote monitoring and control of power, lighting, fire safety, elevators, and mechanical equipment within buildings from separate facilities, and maintains optimal operating conditions through intelligent analysis and control, with plans to apply it in the future.
Song Jae-ho, General Manager of KT's Integrated Security Business Division, stated, "KT will proactively participate in creating new national growth drivers through the public safety and energy industries in line with government policies," and added, "Starting with this MOU with AEGIS Asset Management, we plan to expand intelligent building construction projects and collaborations with various industrial sectors."

Meet KT's AI 'GiGA Genie Family'
KT held a press briefing for the "GiGa Genie Family" at KT Square in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, introducing three new products: "GiGa Genie LTE," Korea's only LTE-based artificial intelligence speaker; "GiGa Genie Buddy," which enhances usability with a compact design; and "GiGa Genie Kids Watch," an AI-enabled smartwatch for children. GiGa Genie LTE was officially launched on the day, while GiGa Genie Buddy and Kids Watch are scheduled for release in early next year. KT stated its goal to make AI an enjoyable service for the entire family at any moment customers need through the GiGa Genie Family unveiled this time, just as it made AI accessible not as a difficult service but as an easy-to-enjoy offering for all family members since the launch of GiGa Genie. GiGa Genie LTE, which began official sales on the day, is the only AI LTE speaker in South Korea that enables users to access artificial intelligence services anywhere in the country. While other products are only usable in Wi-Fi environments, GiGa Genie LTE is usable anywhere and is the first artificial intelligence speaker with true mobility and portability.

KT Leads Korea-China-Japan Artificial Intelligence Business Cooperation
KT announced that it held the 2017 Board of Directors meeting of SCFA (Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement), a strategic cooperation body of Korea, China, and Japan's representative telecommunications companies, with China's China Mobile and Japan's NTT DOCOMO at the Conrad Hotel in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. At this meeting, discussions were held on cooperation plans in new areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and narrowband Internet of Things (NB IoT) between the three companies. The meeting was attended by CEOs of the three Northeast Asian telecommunications companies, including KT Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu, China Mobile Chairman Shang Bing, and NTT DOCOMO President Yoshizawa Kazuhiro, as well as other senior executives. SCFA, established in 2011 under KT's initiative, is Northeast Asia's largest strategic cooperation body among telecommunications operators. KT, China Mobile, and NTT DOCOMO, representing telecommunications companies of the three Northeast Asian countries, are actively promoting collaboration in 5G, roaming, apps, content, IoT, and marketing. Last year, the three companies agreed to extend strategic cooperation for the next five years, and plan to proceed with cooperation in various fields through the end of January 2022.
